Advantages: Chocolate and an ice lolly

Disadvantages: They aren't a nobbly bobbly

When I bought my 'Nobbly bobbly's' earlier in the week, I was reminded of the days when I used to get them confused with a 'Fab'. We'd be at the beach and I'd be asked what I would like from the ice cream van and I could never remember which was which. I'd be so disappointed if my parents came back with a Fab instead of a Nobbly bobbly.

The reason I would get them confused is the fact that they both had a 'hundreds and thousands' element to them but whereas the 'Nobbly bobbly' was totally covered, the Fab only has a quarter of the top part covered in the little balls. The rest of the 'Fab' is one third white and another third red.

I am a huge chocolate lover and although the Fab has a small layer of chocolate that the 'hundreds and thousands' cling to, it just isn't enough for me. I need more! The ice lolly part is rather refreshing on a cold day and although the white part doesn't really taste of anything much, the red part has a unmistakable strawberry taste.

I find that the ice lolly part and the chocolate just doesn't seem to mix, they don't go together (like doo wop doo wop) like the ice cream and chocolate in the 'Nobbly bobbly'.

As much as it's nice to have a slight bit of a drink as you eat the 'Fab', it just doesn't cut it for me and the fact that the ice lolly almost falls off the stick at the end, just spoils it for me.

The other thing is that although these have a slight appeal to the eye, they are far less superior than the 'Nobbly, bobbly'.

If you like a small amount of chocolate but much prefer a ice lolly on a cold day then this is definitely for you but if, like me you want chocolate, chocolate, chocolate with a 'smidgen' of strawberry ice cream, then leave these and get a bobbly nob!

If you fancy one then you can buy them from Sainsburys for £1.80 a box!

Summary: I can take em or leave em, me

I like 'em but in my mind it has only ever been for the hundreds and thousandsy bit - I NEVER knew you could get an entire lolly covered in the stuff -I've been so deprived!
