"Delicious whole grain Shreddies with a touch of honey"

It was actually never my intention to buy Nestle's Honey Shreddies - they got picked up and put into the basket in the place of the similarly packaged Honey Nut Shredded Wheat - an easy mistake to make. That said, i'm glad that the grain based morsels did find their way to the checkout, as they are quite tasty and incredibly moreish.

Price & Availability

You can currently purchase a 500g box of Honey Shreddies for £1.96 from Tesco - perhaps a little pricey, especially when compared to the supermarket own brand of breakfast cereals.

Appearance & Taste

Each Honey Shreddie is a small square of grain whose crosshatched appearance makes it look like it has been woven - hence the advertising slogan "knitted by nanas". Although if nanas had knitted them, I probably wouldn't want to eat them after all that man-handling (or should I say 'gran-handling?).

The flavour is rather sweet, and you certainly won't have to add any extra sugar to them. The taste is delicious, with a honey and brown sugar flavour which combines beautifully with some ice cold milk. That said, these particular Shreddies are delicious even without milk, and can be eaten straight from the packet without being too dry.

Ingredients

The cereal contains;
Whole Grain Wheat (77.6%), Sugar, Barley Malt Extract, Honey (1.2%), Salt, Molasses, and Flavouring: Brown Sugar Flavour.

Final Word

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by the pleasant taste of Honey Shreddies, and would certainly buy them again - although preferably on purpose this time. I actually prefer them to the product I was supposed to buy - Honey Nut Shredded Wheat, although both are top quality cereals - recommended.
