Advantages: Substantial, crunchy and crisp wafer with a thick delicious layer of chocolate, nicely wrapped

Disadvantages: Higher fat/cals

I've previously written a review for the original Kit Kat, which I love. The Chunky Kit Kat is also delicious, but is one for those with either a bigger appetite or wanting two times the crunch!

Kit Kat is produced by Nestle, so you expect quality products and ingredients in their range due to having so many years of knowledge and experience. They were acquired by Rowntree in 1988 although they originally started out in 1866, and seem to have only improved and expanded since.

Kit Kat Chunky is a spin off from the Original Kit Kat, the big difference being that this is one huge finger, rather than two small ones. These were released in 1999, and although I'm sure they have a large fan base, they're not as popular a choice as the regular Kit Kat. I titled the review 'Big Cat' because that's what they're called in the states; a much better name than Kit Kat Chunky in my opinion!

These simply crisp wafer covered in milk chocolate, though if you were to compare a regular 2 finger Kit Kat to the Chunky, you'll see the size difference. The Chunky bar is approximately 2.5cm wide, and has a good depth to it, giving it a more substantial feel.

Each Kit Kat Chunky is contains 263 calories and 14.3g fat, so you're looking at similar nutritional values in terms of fat/cals to a Mars bar. That's over twice the amount of the regular two-finger kit kat.

Kit Kat Chunky is sold individually and most supermarkets also sell multipacks. A 50g bar costs around 44p (Tesco) which is about average, possibly even cheaper, than similar chocolate bars.

They come in a red plastic wrapper, which keeps the freshness locked in well, and retain the original Kit Kat logo design. When you've opened it, you'll notice 'Kit Kat' imprinted in the chocolate and the top. You can smell the chocolate, which is rich and delicious as you'd expect from Nestle chocolate. The outer layer is actually relatively thick, especially at the ends, so you get enough creamy chocolate to mix with the wafer which tastes fresh and crunchy. These are quite sweet and tastes just as the regular Kit Kat does, except it feels much more substantial to hold. It's better at banishing hunger, though i find a whole bar to be a bit too much for me sometimes, so it depends how hungry you are and what you're in the mood for.

Delicious, crisp and chocolatey...definitely something I would recommend, especially if you're a fan of regular Kit Kats. Shame about the high fat/calorie content, but this is a much bigger, bolder, substantial bar that doesn't disappoint.

Summary: Big Kat for bigger appetities with two times the crunch!
