Advantages: Good amount of chocolate, filling, great taste
Disadvantages: Noe that I have found!
There I was sat at work one day, feeling slightly peckish and in need of a chocolate fix and as if by magic, a retired ex-member of staff came in the office to say hello and have a catch up, they also came baring gifts, the gift being a pack of Kit Kat Chunky's. I have not eaten on of these in a long time and so it was great to get to eat one again and solve my chocolate craving!
The Kit Kat chunky is produced by Nestle who took over the Rowntee brand and launched this chocolate bar back in 1999. The original Kit Kat is a 2 finger snack where this new updated version is a single bar, larger and wider in size, it is known in america as the Big Kat.....a better suited name in my opinion!
The chocolate bar itself comes in a very distincticve red foil wrapper and is very recognisable with a red logo on white background on the front and the 'Chunky' printed in blue to the right of the bar. The back of the wrapper contains nutirional information, ingredients and ways to contact the Nestle brand.
I opened my chocolate bar and on my first bite I soon remembered how much I loved them! The chocolate bar is made up of 3 layers of wafer and buscuit and then surounded and covered in milk chocolate, my favourite! Unlike other chocolate bars that I have tried this is one where each section of the bar does not over power another.
The wafer melts in your mouth but also has a crunchy texture and there is a really generous amount of chocolate, not only covering the bar but sandwiched between each layer. I found this snack to be very filling and satisfying my craving.
You can not help but draw a couple of comparrisons to the original 2 bar snack but in my opinion I do prefer the Chunky bar as I feel you get more chocolate than wafer and it does fill me up better.
It is worth noting a few pieces of nutritional information: (Per bar)
Calories ~ 263
Fat ~ 14.3g
Carbohydrates ~ 31.0g
This is by no means a helathy snack and you could not really afford to eat on a regular basis but I found it a really good treat! The calorie content is quite high and if you are someone who does get peckish I guess you are better to stick with cereal bars that contain chocolate rather than a chocolate bar.
As I previsouly said, this bar was a gift but you can pick up the multi packs in most supermarkets for about £1.20 or slightly more and the individual bars can be found for as little as 30p in newsagents and vending machines.
Nestle did try to introduce alternatives to the original chocolate bar such as caramel and peanut but I don't think you can go far wrong with this original bar!
In conclusion, this chocolate bar was a blast from the past and I will certainly be looking out for them again in the near future! It really did have a fab taste and filled me up till tea time!
Summary: A great snack bar.....slightly high calorie count though!

- 23/08/09 I love Kit Kat Chunkies. In Australia, they have more flavours...cookie dough, cookies and cream....but peanut butter is definitely my favourite :) |
