Advantages: Provides a quick, dirty chocolatey fix for all addicts who want a cruder version of Snickers...

Disadvantages: What happened to the old KITKAT?

When I were a lad (many years ago now) KITKATS were either two or four fingered bars of wafer milk chocolate often to be found in lunch boxes in school playgrounds all across the country. They were enjoyed by both you and your mum and dad and were seen as an acceptable treat so long as you "hadn't played up!"

Years have passed, times have changed and suddenly it seems as though everything has gotten bigger and indeed chunkier!! There are more fat kids running in the streets (and I use the term loosely), everyone's mum and dad drives a tank two miles down the road four times a day on the school run; buildings are taller, bigger, better; chunky jewelry and big soveriegn rings are now classed as "chav chic" and all the rage in Elizabeth Duke shops up and down the country and now it appears as though even chocolate has jumped on the band wagon (though once again jumped is probably the wrong word- more like bounced!!)

KITKAT CHUNKY has been around for awhile now and KITKAT CHUNKY PEANUT is like an inbred cousin or the mad aunt you keep locked in the attic except weekends (sorry- that was supposed to be our little secret!!)

About a gadzillion times thicker than the original old skool KITKAT, eating the new style KITKAT CHUNKY is almost a challenge.... the PEANUT version being the older, harder brother you don't like to mess with. Eating PEANUT KITKAT CHUNKY leaves you feeling sullied and dirty I find but still somehow satisfied, a more sickly chocolate bar on the market you're unlikely to find...

So enough waffle, whats it like?

Well, some people have compared the taste to Reece's Pieces (an american brand) but I've not tried these so can't comment. For me it's a bit like a CHUNKY KITKAT thats been anally raped by a jar of cheap peanut butter. It is nice but not something I would buy unless I was craving for a chocolate fix and needed a fast energy boost. As chocolate goes, there is a lot better, classier fare out there but, like the POT NOODLE, this is a product that is always going to sell. It's not a shine on the original KITKAT (can you still buy these or have CHUNKY replaced them completely?) and its certainly no SNICKERS or TOPIC who hold the top of the market as far as nutty-based chocolate bars go, but y'know theres a part of me that quite likes the whole sordidness of this chocolate bar!!

If you want nutritional information, go buy one and read the packet- anyone who says they read this guff before buying a bar are either obsessive-compulsive or liars- chocolate has always been a naughty, guilty pleasure not something you consume if you want to watch your figure (we're back to the fat kids again!!).

Price- well in most places you're looking at 39p a bar which is about right for chocolate in this day and age.

Would I buy this again? Probably yes but I would feel guilty for minutes after that I hadn't bought something that gave me more satisfactory pleasure like a SNICKERS or a TOPIC rather than a-not-so-cheap and dirty thrill like the CHUNKY PEANUT.

DO NOT EAT IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO NUTS. DO NOT EAT AS PART OF A CALORIE-CONTROLLED DIET. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T TRY TO WARN YOU....

These new style KITKATS are like the Darth Vader of chocolate, welcome to the DARK SIDE.....

Summary: CHUNKY IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER.......
