Advantages: So very tasty, one for everybody

Disadvantages: Not a very healthy treat, prefered the old packaging

Milkybar is arguably the countrys most favourite white chocolate bar. They are also sold in many other countries including Australia, New Zealand, India, Brazil, South Africa and many European countries (although they are called 'Galak' in many European countries and in Brazil).

Milkybars are made by Nestle - the creators of Kit Kats, Aeros, Smarties and Fruit Pastilles (to name a few). Nestle first started making Milkybars in the 1930's which now makes Milkybar over 70 years old.

There are 3 different sized Milkybars - a standard bar (25g), small bar (12.5g) and family sharing block (150g). I am reviewing a standard size Milkybar as that is the one I am currently munching my way through! Other Milkybar products include Milkybar Buttons, Milkybar Chunky and Milkybar Moments. Milkybar also bring out selection boxes and advent calenders at Christmas and white chocolate eggs at Easter. You can buy Milkybars in multipacks too.

The face of Milkybar is 'The Milkybar Kid'. The Milkybar Kid is a young blonde boy that wears round glasses and a cowboy outfit. His catchphrase is "The Milkybars are on me!". The Milkybar Kid has been a massive part of Milkybar advertising over the last 48 years (he first appeared in 1961) and is one of the most recognised confectionary characters of all time.

In the past Milkybars were packaged in a foil wrapping, with paper wrapper on top. Nowadays they are packaged in an all foil type wrapper. I personally prefer the old type of packaging better as they were alot easier to get into (I always seem to break into the new packaging by using my teeth) and they allowed you to wrap your chocolate back up if you wanted to save it for later. The packaging is quite attractive - yellow and red, with 'Milkybar' written in red bubble letters with milk splashing around it. It also includes a cute little cartoon picture of The Milkybar Kid. It's clear that the bar is primarily aimed at the younger generation.

The bar itself is around 5 inches long and is a white, yellowy colour. It appears smooth and is smooth to touch. The bar is very thin which is a shame but I think if it were any thicker then it might be too sickly, so it's probably a good thing. There are a few different designs embossed onto the bar such as The Milkybar Kid, The Milkybar Kid's dog and The Milkybar Kid's horse - certain to be a hit amoungst all young children.

Milkybar is by far the creamiest tasting chocolate that I've ever eaten and is even milkier tasting than other white chocolate that I've tried. It's very sweet and rich and verges on being sickly but as mentioned above the bar isn't very thick so you should be fine! I try to savour my Milkybars by sucking on them but usually give in and end up eating the whole thing. The chocolate is totally smooth, no lumps or bumps - pure melt in the mouth loveliness.

Milkybars should be stored somewhere cool. I find if it's left somewhere too warm (bag, car etc) then it turns into a big mushy mess but left in a cupboard or fridge is fine.

Milkybar is suitable for adults but is a particular hit amoungst young children. Babies and toddlers really enjoy Milkybars because of the familiar milky taste (it makes sense if they have been mainly drinking milk for the best part of their lives) and is handy for parents as they are a lot less mess than milk chocolate bars. Some people are quite strict when it comes to giving their children chocolate but I don't mind my 2 year old eating Milkybars so long as it's in moderation and is classed as a treat - treats can come in very handy during toddler years (potty training, etc).

Milkybars are suitable for vegetarians but obviously not for vegans. They are made from all natural ingredients and contain vegetable fat in addition to cocoa butter.

Exact ingredients consist of:
Sugar, whole cow's milk, cocoa butter, whey powder, vegetable fat, emulsifier, lecithin, natural vanilla flavouring.

Milkybars are also very tasty when melted and can be used in cooking (cookies, muffins, rice krispie cakes etc). My grandmother 'in law' melts down Milkybars, dips fresh strawberries in the chocolate and puts them in the fridge to set for an hour or so. Delicious.

Each bar contains 137 calories (7.9g fat) which isn't great but isn't really too bad in comparison to most other chocolate bars.

Milkybars are available at all good supermarkets, sweet shops and convenience stores - pretty much anywhere. They averagely cost between 30p - 50p.

Adults, don't be shy - don't be put off by the childish packaging and advertising, it's one for everybody - I recommend this delicious creamy treat to all.

And now for a few final words...

"The Milkybar Kid is strong and tough,
and only the best is good enough.
The creamiest milk,
the whitest bar,
the good taste that's in Milkybar!

Nestle Milkybaarrr...
THE MILKYBARS ARE ON ME!

God, I'm sad.

Summary: Sweet, creamy and delicious.
