Advantages: SEE REVIEW

Disadvantages: A LITTLE OVER-PRICED

My other half often comes in with a bar of chocolate or packet of sweets hidden in his work bag for me. He then produces it gleefully, stating "hold out your hands..." to which I have to close my eyes, hold out my hands and guess which chocolate bar/packet of sweets he has placed in them.

This ritual takes place at least once a week, and I think dear dooyooers, that he must stand in the shop choosing which sweet or bar to buy me, by looking them over one by one, and deciding which one I will have the toughest time guessing by touch alone. Sigh. It's a wee shame for him, really!? ;-)

Ok, so the sweeties of choice recently were a packet of 'Nestle Munchies'. Having not had them for quite some time, years in fact, I of course, didn't manage to recognise the sweets from the packaging, thus my partner was delighted! We ended up devouring said sweeties in front of the TV in about three minutes flat, so I reckon they must have been a good choice on his part!

The packaging is a long packet, with a red-coloured outer wrapper and there is a gold-coloured paper wrapper underneath this. The red outer had the word "Munchies" in large white print, and there is a little picture of one of the sweeties the side of the wording.

The little sweets that are nestled inside the gold inner wrapper are square-shaped and covered in chocolate. Upon opening the packet, I was aware immediately of the delicious smell of the milk chocolate which of course, made my (greedy) mouth water!

Popping one of the little squares into my mouth, I was instantly aware that the milk chocolate was of a fairly high standard, and it tasted delicious. Biting into the sweet itself, the lovely soft texture of a caramel centre contrasted nicely against the crunch of a little 'ball' of biscuit in the centre of the chocolate square.

I found that the caramel was lovely and soft, and tasted rich and sweet. Similar caramel sweets have a tendency to be quite sickly at times, but I did not find this to be the case with these chocolates.

The biscuit was again very sweet, and had a nice crunchy texture. There was not too much individual taste coming from the biscuit, but again I did find that it complimented the caramel and chocolate very nicely.

The nutritional information on the packaging for these sweets informs me that 100g will provide me with 498 calories, and 24.3g of fat. If I am honest I feel that this is quite high considering the size of the packet of sweets is not a huge big bag or anything. I'd be willing to bet therefore that this particular sweet isn't going to be all that popular with anybody who is 'slimming' or watching their figures!

I saw these sweets for sale yesterday in my local grocery store, and they would have cost me 64 pence if I had chosen to buy them. I found that to be a bit on the expensive side, but perhaps it's just me..?

All in all, I found that these were nice for a change, and I did enjoy them. I'm not sure though if I would buy them on a regular basis as I didn't find them all THAT satisfying and there are other confectionary items that I prefer, if I am honest.

Four stars from me - with one knocked off because I think they are a little over-priced!

Thanks for reading my review! :-D

I love these and quite often buy them in the 'cinema' size bags so I can pig out even more!
