I named my dog Rolo because of his fur colouring, though some people are sure it is because I like the sweet! To be honest though, Nestle Rolos have never really appealed to me. Yes the brand is wonderful in its own way, but rolos themselves do not appeal to me. I find there is generally too much caramel and the chocolate is inedible. Though when I saw the Nestle Rolo dougnuts in Tesco I found I just had to try them...
The rolo doughnuts come ina pack of four, and are enclosed in a plastic carton. Across it, as if to hold it all in, there is a cardboard sleeve with a picture of the doughnts on and a little description. Though the clear carton allows you to see into the products themselves. They look delicious, a golden base covered in a layer of rich chocolate with chocolate chip-like pieces through it. I couldnt wait to try.
I ripped a sweet smelling doughnut in two and looked at the little patch of caramel that was slowly oozing out of it. Taking a bite my teeth sank though its softness. I was struck by just how sweet the chocolate was. In fact it was too sickening. The caramel was quite sweet too and even the dough base. It was far too sweet I couldnt even finish one half! It was not exactly the nicest of doughnuts to say the least. It didnt taste like rolos, it didnt really taste like anything I was familiar with!
I would normally worry about the calories in this but having eaten next to none of it I was not really fussed. But out of curiousity I went to check anyway and discovered that the nutritional information was not printed anywhere. I was quite shocked and a little worried too!
For four doughnuts you are around £1.50, which compared to Tesco's own brand it is a lot more expensive! It is not a price I would want to pay though I suppose if you adored these then it wouldnt be too bad.
These are not exactly what I would call nice, but I dont like rolos! If you like rolos then by all means try them, but if you were just curious as I was, dont waste your money!
