Advantages: Sweet, minty, tasty.
Disadvantages: More expensive than they used to be.
I really love spearmint Polos. Unfortunately I haven't had any for a while because I gave up sweets for Lent, but it's nearly Easter (yay)! When I first started college I would just buy lots of packets of Polos, sometimes getting through 5 a day! I usually bought them from Wilkinsons because they were only 24p each. However, one day I went in to buy my Polos and the price had risen by 1/3 to 32p! I was very shocked, and refused to buy them at such a high price. So I cut down on Polos for a while, but still bought the odd packet from the college shop (for an even more ridiculous price of 35p!).
I'm not entirely sure why I love spearmint Polos so much. In my opinion they're the best Polo variety because the original flavour can get boring and the sugar free flavour isn't very tasty, but spearmint is just right. It's sweet and minty and tastes good! Though I still can't quite decide what makes them my favourite sweet.
Polos come in a tube shape, wrapped in foil and then in a paper wrapper. I think this helps to keep them fresh! I like the packaging because it means you can just pop the tube in your pocket and eat them throughout the day without worrying that they'll spill out everywhere, because you can just wrap the top up again after opening.
The shape of Polos is quite unique. They're circle shaped with a hole in the middle (just like an "O") and are about 2cm in diameter and 1/2cm thick. It's certainly an interesting shape, but I do think that because there's a hole in the middle I'm losing a tiny bit of Polo!
Spearmint Polos are sweet and minty, which is a good combination. The spearmint variety is pale blue in colour with little flecks of blue all over. I used to spend a while eating each Polo, to get all the Polo goodness out of it, but now I tend to crunch them straight away. This usually means that I get through my packet of Polos very fast, but I find this is a good way to eat them.
As I said before, spearmint Polos used to be fairly cheap at 24p in Wilkos, but now that they're 32p, I have yet to find somewhere else to buy cheap Polos from. I once came across a multipack of spearmint Polos in B&M for 99p, but I haven't seen them again since. Spearmint Polos aren't as common as original Polos, so they're not usually available in supermarkets (original Polos are around 23p there), but you can usually find them in newsagents and Woolworths. 32p isn't too high a price considering how much I like Polos, but after paying 24p before, I really don't want to pay that much. (If you see spearmint Polos for less than 30p, it's a bargain!)
Overall, spearmint Polos are fantastic. I can't wait to start eating them again when Easter comes! If you've never had spearmint Polos, go buy some now and see how good they are.
Summary: My favourite sweet.
