They cartons are made from cardboard and sit upright so are easy to store in the fridge. You can warm these soups up in a pan or in the microwave for a couple of minutes. This one is a lovely rich red colour and smells really appetising. The tomato taste is delicious, it is very rich and creamy and the tomatoes are sweet with a very slight...more

I love eating soup but hardly ever find the time to make it so I decided to try the range of soups from New Covent Garden as they are made from fresh ingredients and will be almost as good for me as home made. Packaging ======= This soup is available in a 600g tetra pack in the chiller section of the supermarkets Price ==== In Tesco it costs £1.99 per carton but seems to be on offer at two cartons for £3 a lot of the time. How To Cook ========== Easy peasy. Either heat in a pan or stick it in the microwave for a couple of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A good cure for the common cold (391 words)

I have got a cold and am going to go to bed when I have told you about a soup that has just made me feel a little bit better. New Covent Garden soups are all nice except for the broccolli one but i don't like broccolli anyway. This soup is Plum Tomatoe and Basil and comes in a cardboard carton that lasts me for about 2 meals. The carton is easy to open and has to be kept in the fridge because it has natural ingreadients which will go off quickly. When you cook it it is very important not to let it come to the boil because this soup loses its taste even more than other soups when it boils. A very quick heat through is all it needs to get it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review New Covent Garden Plum Tomato and Basil Soup: Tasty Tomato Soup! (196 words)

I absolutely love these soups, they sel them at the canteen at uni and i adore them all, but especially the tomato soup one. You can't go wrong with tomato soup, its a classic. Add the fact that the covent garden isn't abnormally smooth (like the dodgy heinz version) and also add some basil, rosemary and oregano (keeps in interesting, not just tomatoes) you have yourself a really tasty soup. Per half a pint serving you'll find 6g of fat (0.9g of that being saturated), 14.7g of sugar (daily recommended amount is 90g, so not bad) and 0.9g of salt. All of these values are pretty low, so can indulge in thistasty soup for lunch guilt free, in the knowledge that it ...  Read the complete review

New Covent Garden Plum Tomato and Basil Soup Description: fresh soup I am sure that if they could, everyone would make their own home made soups but unfortunately, we just don't all have the time. There are plenty of tinned varieties around which can provide a quick and filling lunch, but sometimes, I find myself craving something a little better, which is when the New Covent Garden range of fresh soups is invaluable. One of my favourite flavours is the plum tomato and basil one. These soups are found in the chiller cabinet of supermarkets and can often be bought on special offers. They usually freeze too so you can pop them ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review New Covent Garden Plum Tomato and Basil Soup: Not so Plum (693 words)

Soups really are one of the easiest things to make. They don't take that long, freeze well and they are an excellent way of using up odd ingredients that you have hanging around. For these reasons I often fail to see why so many people settle for the yucky stuff that comes out of cans. Appreciating the convenience of a ready-made soup, however, if you are going to go for one the "fresh" varieties are so much tastier. New Covent Garden soups are available in tetrapaks from the chiller cabinets. They brand themselves as "natural" and, as a "premium" brand, tend to sell soups in flavours that sound "poshed up". So, for ...  Read the complete review
