Advantages: Really filling tasty breakfact and a brilliant snack!
Disadvantages: After I have smothered with lashings of butter bit fattening!
I don't normally shop at Sainsbury's, but my best friend fell over and had a suspected broken ankle, so ended up in A&E very near to a Sainsburys so nipped in to do a medium size shop! To my glee, I found New York Bakery Company Bagels all at half price! Great! I got 2 packs, Multi seed and cinnamon and raisin.
The Cinnamon and Raisin version of the brand come in packs of 5, and half price cost 64p! Brilliant.
Given my quick straight after hospital dash I forgot to buy any fruit!?! So the kids had no pud for tea. So the 'breakfast' bagals it is then! They come packaged in a clear soft plastic pack, all stacked one on top of the other, and sealed with a sellotape top that doesn't come apart easily and cannot be re-sealed. Its fine, but not perfect. I ripped the top off, and was greated by a whoosh of cinnamon! It was wonderful. not the harsh dry smell that you get with a pack of shwartz powder, the smell that you get from Granny's finest apple crumble. It smells like something that needs to be devoured instantly. I cut them in half, and managed to pop them in the toaster without any problem. The kitchen smelled like a christmas Grotto! Amazing, sweet, cinnamon...just lovely in every way. They popped up, and instantly spread a thin layer of spreadable butter on each side and it melted in......ooooo.....
the kids devoured them. They had just eaten a pea and fetta frittata with tomatoes, so lets not think they are going to be starving marvin! They ate half each, then shouted more!!! My hubby then toasted another couple and drizzled with Maple syrup! amazing. They ate it all.
These bagels are dense. They have a doughy consistancy, rather cakey, but not in any way crumbly, like a sweeter, denser bread than standard. They are not white, they are wholemeal, however this is not clear on the packet.
The cinnamon sweetness is the clearest flavour. It has a nice peppering if raisins throughout. (5% according to ingredients) It is not over sweet like a pudding, it is a sweater version of a bagel. A nice alternative to bread or cake!

Lighltly toast the bagel and spread with creme fraiche and top with blueberries.
Personnaly, my fave is toast and lots of butter as the flavour of the bagel is amazing. Not over sweet. very very filling. Keeps you going right till lunch much more than toast alone.
Give them a go, especially as now on half price special at Sainsbury's!
