Advantages: delicious

Disadvantages: /

Every time I watch Friends, and they talk about the "Naked Bagel Game", it always occured to me that I had never actualy had a bagel before! Okay, so such a conversation would usually put a person off eating bagels, but it simply made me want to try them all the more! Eventually I decided it was time to experience the holed bread, so off I went to find one. I came across the New York bagels, and decided they were the ones!

Packaging:
The New York bagels come in a little bag, similar to the packaging bread is found in, with the little tag at the top for expirey and keeping it sealed. On the front there is a picture of the statue of liberty, with the brand name underneath. It all seems so attractve, I couldnt wait to tuck in!

First impressions:
The bagels have quite a bland scent to it, a little like a bakery when you walk in and smell the fresh bread, but toned downl a lot. They have a pretty colour too, a golden brown shade. It feels very shiny to touch too, and has a littl ehole in the centre - very cute! It looked amazing, I didnt want to eat it, but I decided I should anyway! It wouldnt exactly keep!

Taste:
I wasnt sure how to cook a bagel first, but I ended up slicing it in half and popping it under the grill for a few minutes until the top went golden brown too. Then I smeared butter over it, and it began to melt. It looked as if it was glowing with flavour! I took a bite, and found the bread was quite chewy and tough. The butter gave it a salty sweet flavour too, overpowering the flavour of the bread. It was delicious, I finished it all off! I was quite full afterwards though! A benefit, though!

Nutrition:
Bagels did not strike me as being healthy, but was I right? Each one has just short of 200 calories, a lot less than I first thought. Okay so it snot healthy, especially when smeared with butter (!), but eaten now and again its not going to cause too much damage!!

The bagels are not too pricey, with £1.20 for a pack of five. There is also a deal of Buy One Get One Free, so you are getting ten bagels for £1.20. How often can you buy a bagel from a stand or suchlike for 12p?!

These are delicious and well worth the try! I am pleased I chose such an amazing product for my first bagel, and will never look back!
