MY OPINION
My little man just does not like these, he takes the cake off me and then just throws it away. He has tried and tasted them but wont try them anymore.
The cakes are the same style and texture of the normal rice cakes, this does in fact remind me of polystyrene! The cakes are each about 5cm round and about 1cm think so they are the ideal size for small hands to hold and to feed themselves independently.
The cakes do have a pleasant apple taste but they do not smell of apples. When opening the packet up I noticed a distinct smell of cardboard which put me right off them from the start.
The packet is a 500g bag which I feel is way too large for a small child as if you only give them a few at a time there is no way of resealing the packet to keep the remaining ones fresh. I have in fact used a small clip to seal the bag back up. The packet would be much more suited to smaller bags and perhaps sold in multipacks.
I paid 48p for this packet as they are currently on offer in Sainsbury's, I think that the full price for these is around the 70p mark which is still good value.
These are a very healthy treat for small children as there is no junk added and the nutritional values are very good. Unfortunately I will not be buying these again as my little man just wont eat them, I think it is the texture that is putting him off them.
I cannot fully recommend these as the smell is very off putting and they are not liked in my house.
These rice cakes are suitable for vegetarians.
