Organix Finger Foods Apple Rice Cakes
The Company Organix pride themselves on having a total 100% no junk promise. Meaning that none of their product contains anything that remotely resembles junk food. This is indeed the case for these Apple flavour Rice Cakes.
This product is for children at the second stage of the weaning process and that is around the 7 months mark although I do think I gave certain things from this stage to Jack before he was 7 months old. Having finger food is an important part of weaning not just so that the child can learn to eventually feed himself but it also helps motor development with hand to mouth coordination. It is important also to make sure you are offering your child things that need to be chewed so that this skill can be learnt otherwise if it is left too late it will make it harder for the child in the long run. Of course when a child this young is eating it is always advisable to watch them carefully as foods such as this can be choking hazards.
This product can be found in most supermarkets and places such as Boots. They usually are priced at around the 70 pence margin, which is similar to most other normal large bags of crisps as you are getting a good 500gram bag when buying this product. I haven't counted actually how many individual rice cakes you get but there does seem to be a lot and the bag lasts for a good few days as Jack only eats a couple at a time.
The packaging for these rice cakes is rather appealing with a bright green bag and a little cartoon of a small child eating one. The fact that you can't miss the "No Junk Promise" written on the front of the bag is also pretty appealing. On opening the bag the smell of apples is certainly strong and the rice cakes themselves are small round discs that are rather sticky to touch and pale in colour. The Rice cakes don't really look too appealing but then any rice cake is the same and even though the apple smell is strong I am unsure as to whether it is a nice aroma or not, although I would probably steer towards it not being a great smell.

The rice cakes are suitable for vegetarians.
Jack seems to pretty much like these small little rice cakes and although I myself don't find them very appealing, he is happy to eat them as a small snack and can easily polish off three in one sitting. I found after eating one myself that the apple flavour was very strong on one side of the rice cake and tasted very much like apple and not at all fake like some fruit flavoured snacks that you get.
It would be much better if the bag was re-sealable as I have to hunt out an elastic band to seal them up as they are prone to going rather soft and as Jack is eating only 3 at a time then the bag does need to be sealed up ready for the next time.
I think these rice cakes are good. Jack prefers the carrot stick crisps from Organix better than these but these do make a nice change to have. There are available in an orange flavour too which are just as nice but I find a little sweeter. I would certainly prefer to give these to Jack as a little snack rather than normal crisps that are full of salt and other rubbish that his little young body doesn't need.
I would definitely recommend these for all parents and say that it is a much better alternative to crisps. You get a lot in a packet so although the price may seem a little high they are a good thing to have in your bag ready to keep your child happy at any given moment! Just remember an elastic band!
These Organix Apple Rice Cakes deserve a rating of 10/10 truly because the idea is good, they contain no junk and there are so many per packet.
I hope this has been f some help to you, thanks for taking the time to read.
