Advantages: Very chocolatey, tasty and inexpensive

Disadvantages: Very moreish

Penguin milk chocolate biscuits are an all time classic. Made by McVitie's, these babies have been around forever and are still going strong!

These are chocolate flavoured biscuits with a chocolate cream filling, covered in even more milk chocolate around the outside - just right for the chocoholics amongst us.

The coating is smooth and thin, not thick and chunky, but certainly enough to pep up the blood sugar levels with a nice cup of coffee in the afternoons and at only 114 calories per day, they aren't too bad in comparison to some other chocolate fixes I could mention!

The biscuits come in brightly coloured wrappers, individually wrapped and sold in packs of 9 or 18 from most leading supermarkets.

The individual wrappers make these easy to eat without getting covered in chocolate and easy to carry around for a snack on the go or for inside a packed lunch box.

Penguin biscuits are instantly recognisable on supermarket shelves by the Penguin cartoon like characters emblazoned on their wrappers and each wrapper also contains a penguin related joke - schoolboy humour but fun all the same ........... oh and did I mention their catch phrase " P p p pick up a penguin"

I managed to "P p p pick up" a great deal in my local Scotmid store yesterday , a multi pack of 18 biscuits at £1.32 - that's only around 7 pence per chocolate fix, a great deal in theses recessionary times.

Penguin biscuits do contain milk, soya and gluten, so not suitable for everyone and it does make me laugh when they advertise that these biscuits have added calcium......questionable, but we are all savvy enough to know if we are looking for a calcium fix, a pint of milk surely would be a first choice over Penguin biscuit, but this is what marketing and sales is all about !

Overall, a great classic chocolate biscuit which has character, and is relatively cheap and yummy !

Summary: Tasty snack with only 114 calories ber biscuit
