DAmn those end aisles in shops. They tend to draw your attention to something that you probably wouldn't go out of your way to get, and they make you feel like the very thing is the thing you have been craving - then again if you were really wanting it in the first place, you would have went up the normal aisle and got it!
McVities Penguin's were a Chocolate Biscuit we always had in the house when I was growing up. Not really sure why, as they aren't exactly exciting, but I guess my parents must have liked them.
You get these in packs of 9 Biscuits and they cost approx £1.20. I think you can get them in bigger sized packs that work out a bit cheaper, and Asda was doing a deal of 2 packs of Biscuits from a large range for £2.
The packaging is alright for these. They are wrapped individually and the wrappers are colourful and have Penguin's on them. THey are all wrapped in a larger outer layer which is bright enough and has the Penguin writing on it, and a colourful picture as well.
Now to the Biscuits. They are Crumbly digestive type Biscuits. There is 2 of them in the Biscuit and they are sandwiched together with a layer of Chocolate Cream. Certainly plenty of Chocolate in these, as the whole lot is covered with a thick layer of Chocolate as well, and it is sweet, crumbly, creamy and milky, but I think there should be slightly more Cream in these, as everything else seems to overshadow the Cream.
I don't have the pack to hand, but I think there is 118 calories per Biscuit, so not too bad for you.
A nice enough Biscuit and it certainly gives you a good Chocolate fix.

- 15/08/09 118 calories for one biscuit is ok, but what about poor sods like myself who just cannot stop at one!??? :-) I jest. They are delicious, childhood snacks that has stood the tests of time and still come out on top - almost. |
