Advantages: Perfect sized bar for kids and good value for money when only 50p
Disadvantages: Too small for me
As a child McVities Penguins were something that we always had in our house and now I have children myself it is now something I have started buying. They are the perfect chocolate bar for children and are great for packed lunches.
I usually only buy penguins when they are on special offer and at Tesco's they seem to have been on offer for ages. You can currently buy a pack of nine for just 50p, that is better than half price. You can also get McVities Penguin Wafer bars for 50p, these are a newish product and I don't think they are as nice.
I think normally you can get a nine bar packet for £1.17 and a eighteen bar packet for £2.24. I don't know if I would purchase these at this price.
Penguins are small chocolate bars, with a layer of chocolate cream sandwiched between chocolate biscuit and then covered in milk chocolate. They are very tasty and all my children love them.
The only problem has got to be the size, they are really small, about 2 inchs. This is perfect for kids but I think for an adult they are a bit small. If I was to eat them I would definetely have to eat more than one.
The bars are individually wrapped and these wrappers come in different colours, my boys always end up arguing over which colour penguin bar they want.
I think the thing everyone remembers penguins for is the joke, which as a child you find funny and as an adult you realise just how daft they are.
'How does a Penguin make pancakes?'
With its flippers
It also says on the wrapper that if you are not happy with the quality of the product then you can return it and it provides an address, I cannot see this happening much though as they are a good product, McVities is a reputable brand.
Overall a perfect chocolate bar for kids and when they're on offer at 50p I find it to resist putting in the shopping trolley.
Summary: Great for kids
