“ Manufacturer: Peter's / Food Type: Pies „
In the shop by me the other day they were selling the Peter's slices for £1.00 so I picked up a Ham And Cheese one because I was starving and I thought it would be quick and easy when I got in.
The slice was yummy but not as good as other pastry slices I've eaten. For a start I cooked it for 20 mins like it said on the packet but it wasn't quite cooked as much as I wanted it to be, but I'd already cut into it by then so I couldn't put it back in the oven.
Inside there is a thick cheese sauce and LOADS of small pieces of ham. Seriously, loads! Each fork full has got at least 6 pieces of ham on it and I'll even say that there might be a bit too much ham for some people! lol
The cheese is rich but hasn't got much flavour to it, it's got a lovely creamy texture but I thought it needed a bit of something to liven the flavour up. Actually it's got such a weak flavour that I put some bbq sauce on the top of the slice so that it had got a bit more taste. The ham is yummy, it's got a lovely meaty flavour and the only thing missing for me is that it's not smoked.
It's got a nice texture too and feels like real ham as you eat it and not that scrappy meat that a lot of these slices and pies use.
The pastry is yummy, it's easy the best thing about the slice. It's flakey and makes a right mess on the plate as you cut it so make sure you use a big plate! lol The top of it is nice and crispy but just underneath the surface it's a gorgeous soft pastry that is mega filling and collects the flavour of the filling.
I quite enjoyed this slice and I'm glad they've started selling them in the shop by me because it saves me having to go all the way to Tesco when I fancy something like this.
