Description: Mint roll. The mint with the hole in the middle.

... be 10p a pack and then they went slowly up to 20p which they seemed to stick for ages went to 25p and all of a sudden shot up from no where to 35p and sometimes you cant even get them for that, in a lot of places there 40 or even 45p which to be honest is a bit of a rip off and there not worth that. However apart form the price, they do taste good. The original mint ones are refreshing but my favourite are the spearmint ones as they just have a nicer flavour and a stronger mint flavour to the polo I think. You get a...more

Premium Review Nestle Polo: I Love Tonguing The Hole (270 words)

Polos are probably the most famous mint in the whole wide world I have seen them in countries all over the world even though I though of them as a traditionally British item. They are a hard circular mint about the size of 20 pence piece but what makes this mint different is the fact that it has a hole in the middle of it. Why does it have a whole? I have no idea ( any ideas please post a comment) why this hole exists but it is a key aspect of the brand and the marketing even describes it as ' the mint with a hole' Like I said before you can buy these in most places but I usually pick mine up in petrol stations or newsagents and I nearly always have ...  Read the complete review

So having had a bad experience with Coke recently I've gone to the religious side, I've seen the Holey one and I'm in love. I've began repenting for my sins, The gambling and theft, the idolisation of Boris Johnson, the Illegal downloading of music files, the sex before marriage, the excessive alcohol consumption and my previous run ins with Coke. I've seen the Holey side and I swear I'm a changed man (I probably should repent on the swearing and the private porn collection too...) I can be a good man, A Holey man. So what random epiphany struck me blind, such as it did to Paul when he set foot down that long and winding road to Damascus? What possibly could ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nestle Polo: Potty About Polo (1006 words)

At the tender age of 23 I am lucky to have any teeth left after the amount of Polo's I used to eat at secondary school. Fortunately for me I have excellent teeth, but that's no thanks to the vending machine company who installed a sweet confectionary vending machine in our school hall and our sports hall. As a result I think I was known for having at least one packet of Polos in my pocket at any given time, and I mean at least one. Each packet of Polo's between 1997 - 2002 used to cost 0.20p from the vending machine which always left plenty of dinner money left over. They are also the most convenient mint to stash in a small blazer pocket and distribute amongst friends ...  Read the complete review

Polo mints were first made in England in 1948. When rowntrees first made them, they didn't have a hole in them and the hole was introduced in 1955. Imagine that, Polos with no hole ! it's against nature! Polo's have a minty taste, but it isn't too strong unlike some of the mints and chewing gums you can buy, it is subtle and tastes nice. You can get the normal mint ones that are a little stronger or the peppermint ones that I prefer. They have about a 1.9 cm diameter and the hole is 0.8cm wide! Bet you never knew that lol. They have the word Polo etched into each polo twice as well. Polos aren't very hard, and you can bite them in half as soon as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nestle Polo: Put your hands together for the humble Polo mint. (546 words)

Whenever I think of Polo's I am reminded of my dad. For some bizarre reason he always used to have a half opened packet in his pocket (not the same packet obviously but they always seem to be half opened). Very rarely did I ask for one from his packet because his hands were always dirty (he was a welder) and I always remember thinking 'If his hands are dirty then his pocket must be dirty too because he puts his dirty hands in his pocket'. He also kept a hanky in his pocket so I was sure that the Polo's he carried would be covered in snot as well as dirt from his hands. Polo's are known to most people as 'The mint with a hole'. They are hard, circular in shape ...  Read the complete review
