Advantages: filling, quick
Disadvantages: not very healthy
A quick and easy snack to make. It comes in a plastic pot which is mainly green with a foil lid and has pot noodle written across the front of the pot and also over the lid. This pot noodle is in a chicken and mushroom flavoured sauce with soya pieces and dried vegetables with a sachet of soy sauce. To make this pot noodle you should follow the instructions given on the side of the pot. They tell you to peel off the lid and remove the sachet of soy sauce. Pour on boiling water to the fill level and let it stand for 2 minutes. Then you should stir it well and let it stand for another 2 minutes, then stir it again and add more water if required. The pot noodle should then be eaten at once and not be reheated. I have known some people who say that they don’t add the sachet of soy sauce to their pot noodle because they do not like it. I cannot really taste any difference. I have eaten it before without adding it and to me it tastes just the same as when I have added it. Maybe its just my taste buds. I always add extra water to my pot noodle after I have prepared it, this is because I don’t like the sauce to be too thick. People have commented on me doing this by saying that I have a pot soup because there is so much water in it. After I have finished eating the noodles I can then drink what is left of the sauce which is usually about half a pot full. After all the waiting you finally get to eat it. The pieces are all nice and soft just how they should be. There are a lot of noodles in the pot. Mixed in with these you will find small pieces of the soya chicken, which taste quite rubbery. There are also pieces of mushrooms, sweetcorn and chives, which are little green strands that often get stuck in your teeth. In these pot noodles there are no artificial colours or preservatives and they are a good source of fibre. In each made up pot there are 383 calories, 14.5g of fat and
3.3g of fibre. This snack is very enjoyable and fairly easy to make, apart from the waiting. Compared to similar snacks that you can add water to, pot noodles are much tastier. They are also cheap. They only cost around 67pence each. I think this is very good value for money. You get a nice tasty snack that fills you up. Pot noodles come in other flavours too. Beef and tomato, spicey curry and chow mein are a few of them, but chicken and mushroom is easily my favourite.

- 17/08/04 I always think Pot Noodles are a bit like Marmite in that you either love or hate them - I fall into the latter category and just the smell of them makes me want to heave! |
