Primula cheese spread is available in several varieties (smoked cheese, cheese, cheese and chives, cheese & ham & cheese and shrimp). I have tried most varieties and my favourites are the cheese & chives and cheese & ham variety. They are available from £1.13-£1.17 in Tesco stores and this is for a 150g squeezable tube.

The tubes are thicker at the top than the bottom and they each have a picture of what is mixed with the cheese and the blue Primula logo and a blue screw top. Once the top is removed there is a foil fresh tab which keeps the product fresh until you open it and helps ensure that it has not been tampered with. I really like products with this feature as it's makes me feel confident that nobody has messed around with my product on the supermarket shelf.

The cheese is lovely and soft and smooth and the addition of chives or ham is delicious and they really do taste how they should. The ham is delicious and there are small little chunks of it. It spreads very well on as part of a sandwich or on hot buttered toast. A 35g squeeze contains around 80 calories and 6.6g of fat so it is not the healthiest thing available but then I always find that I need to use less than 35g as a little goes a long way. I enjoy this in a favourite of sandwich related lunches and I have been known to use a whole tube as part of a delicious pasta bake.

I would highly recommend these as they are great fun for the kids to use and are a good source of calcium. They are frequently on buy one get one free offers in Tesco & Asda so I would advise keeping your eyes peeled if you want to sample them. I am rating them 5/5 as there are lots of flavours and the design of the tube makes them very easy to use with just one firm squeeze required to give you enough for two pieces of bread. I love the varied flavours as it's nice to have some variety rather than just the standard spreadable cheese, although the original cheese alone is also very nice and my favourite spreadable.
