Do you remember back in the day, when the only flavours of any crisps were salt and vinegar, prawn cocktail, cheese and onion and plain? Well these days it seems that they still stick to the basics, but jazz them up a bit to make them sound more impressive. Thus we have the new and exciting 'sour cream and onion'. Now what exactly does that mean? Are they really suggesting that we should look at that and go 'oooh, sour cream, my favourite - oh and a bit of onion too?' No, the green packing gives it away - these are basically derived from good old cheese and onion.

Pringles took the world by storm a few years back - curved crisp like deep fried potato snacks packed in a cylindrical box, they cost around £1 on average. There are a range of flavours, but this is one of my favourites.

The flavour is definitely cheese and onion-like, but stronger. The taste is more intense, and it really almost takes your breath away if you suck in the flavour from between a few of them (if you know what I mean). I would say that the obvious flavour is cheese, but with a strong zing to it. I don't really notice onions per-se, but the same sort of intensity as salt and vinegar crisps. So, it's cheesey, with the vinegar type intensity, and I like them.

Texture-wise, they're like something off Grand Designs - a really clever strong curve that snaps easily when bitten into. I love the way they are so crunchy, and the pot tends to mean they don't go soft either.

They're full of fat (like most crisp products), and should only be eaten in the moderation that is difficult to manage with such a delightful and addictive snack.

Summary: do it
