Advantages: Taste
Disadvantages: Moreish, Fat content
Me and my partner tried the light version of these the other day so when I sent him to the shop today he picked these up. He got them from our local Sainsburys Local, however they are available from a huge variety of shops including supermarkets and newsagents. The tube he got weighs 155g however they are also available in a smaller snack pot and now in bags in the form of new mini Pringles. The 155g tube cost £1.59.
The crisps come in a tall cylinder cardboard tube. It is predominantly bright green in colour and has a large yellow Pringles logo. There is also a large picture of the ingredients, in this case a large pot of sour cream and some chopped onions. In small black writing there are ingredients lists in a variety of languages and a table towards the bottom of the tub shows the nutritional information.
When you open the tube you are greeted by a very suble aroma which personally to me smells more of onions. The crisps are a funny shape, they are sort of oval shaped but with a curve to them. The curve allows them to be stacked easily in the tub. The crisps are large but are wafer thin, providing them with a good texture and in my opinion, highlighting and making the most of the flavours used. Each crisp is really crunchy and shatters with each bite. This gives the illusion that they are really fresh. The only way I can think to describe these crisps is similar to cheese and onion. However, the taste is more refreshing and doesn't leave you with such stinky breath! There is a great coating of flavour on each crisp and the flavour stays with you until the whole crisp has been swallowed.
Pringles are not very healthy at all and should only be enjoyed in moderation! A 25g portion (about one sixth of the tube) will provide you with 133 calories, 8.8g fat (2.5g saturates) and 0.17g of sodium. I will add here that these crisps are extremely moreish and you may well find it difficult to just eat a sixth of the tube!
I really like these crisps but only enjoy them as a treat because they are quite expensive. The texture of them is what makes them the best for me due to them being so thin and crunchy. I would recommend these crisps as they are great for special occasions and parties. However, they are very highly priced which is a shame.
Summary: Nice as a treat
