Advantages: tasty, cheap at minute, yum
Disadvantages: too addictive, easy to eat a whole tube
I was shopping in Morrisons the other week and saw a sign saying Pringles £1. I presumed it was for all flavours but looking closer saw it said 'Zesty Lime n Chilli flavour' hmm sound interesting, I like Lime Doritos and Sensations so grabbed a couple of tubs and put them in the trolley. This flavour came out at the beginning of February so is still very new.
These Pringles are in the usual 155g tub, the colour of this flavour is, unsurprisingly Lime green with red and yellow writing and lines.
There is an image of some Pringles, some sliced limes, red chillies and green chillies.
It looks exotic and made me look that's for sure.
This flavour like all the others in the Pringles range is suitable for vegetarians.
The Pringles themselves are the usual golden brown colour, they don't seem to have as much flavouring powder on them as some flavours such as BBQ, there is just a sprinkling of a light red powder which i'm guessing is the chilli.
The main smell when you open the tub is lime, they smell quite fruity but with a hint of spice, I was looking forward to tasting them from the smell and appearance alone.
The taste test
--------------------------------
The first taste when you slide a pringle into your mouth is lime, quite a strong tang hits your tastebuds and then the flavour develops as you crunch and the chilli flavours kicks in. I'm not sure but I think I can taste a mix of Jalapeno (that sweet distinct flavour) and red chillies.
They aren't very spicy, nowhere near as hot as the Hot n Spicy flavour, it's just a nice sweet kick which complements the chilli perfectly. After you've swallowed them the taste is still strong in your mouth.
I've never tried the combination of chilli and lime before but I was pleasantly surprised by these, I'm sure they'll be very popular with Pringles fans as they make a change from 'normal' flavours.
A new favourite for me, I think they'd be great dipped in sour cream too....I'm always trying to find a way to make things more fattening apparently!
Nutritional Info
--------------------------------
Per 25g portion: 132 calories, 8.6g of fat, 0.19g of salt.
This is about the same as an average bag of crisps so obviously not too healthy but ok enjoyed in moderation.
I know that isn't easy though because as the saying goes; once you pop the fun don't stop!
Summary: Gorgeous.
