I love granola but I don't tend to buy it regularly as it's usually so expensive. Although I recently noticed the Quaker Oats Granola in my local supermarket and decided to try some because it's so reasonably priced compared to the brands I usually buy (£2.59 500g). My usual brand (Jordan's Superfoods Granola) contains berries, so I decided to opt for this one, with strawberries and raspberries because it was the closest by comparison. The granola comes in an attractive pink/purple box and can be found in the supermarket by the porridge and oats cereals. It's now quite common practice for a company to cash-in on a brand that they believe is doing well by expanding products within the range, or adding new products to the range. The Quaker Oats guys are no exception to the rule. When I grew up, Quaker Oats meant porridge - the old fashioned stuff you boiled with milk and salt, not the namby pamby microwave stuff [that I use myself!]. Having expanded the porridge range to an impressive 16 varieties [I couldn't believe it either - check the website], they've now started on the cold cereal range. Here we have yet another hit from Quaker Oats - a healthy breakfast with a bit of thought instead of bland rabbit food with no taste. I am quite a fan of the Quaker range as I love their porridge (especially on these cold mornings) but like a bit of variety in my breakfast. As someone who is allergic to nuts it can be quite restricting when I'm on yet another health kick as the mueseli generally contains nuts. The granola range don't although they may have a label saying they may contain traces of nuts due to production methods. I haven't checked on this one as I tend to read the ingredients only.
