Advantages: healthy option for cereals

Disadvantages: not everyone cup of tea.

I bought a box of sugar puffs yesterday as it was reduced to £1.19 for a 450 g box at costcutters and the normal price is around £1.99 for these so as I love my money saving bargains I was a very happy bunny. Which is why I decided to go back today and get another box!!

These are made by Quaker and is classed as a breakfast cereal, but I tend to have them more for supper or as a snack sometimes, the taste of these are quite unusual and hard to describe, but you either love them or hate them, I love them but my daughter hates them!!

I am sure you have seen the advert on tv for these, it contains the character "honey monster" who is a big yellow monster who cannot get enough of these and there have been a lot of different adverts over the years, even when I was a child I remember him and grew to love watching him in new adverts.

Sugar puffs are puffed wheat coated with honey and brown sugar, as soon as you open the sealed bag inside the box you can smell the distinct scent of these. You can pick out the taste of the honey and brown sugar and they taste the same raw as they do when added with milk. The texture is quite soft and when you add the milk you will see some of them float to the top and need to eat them fairly quickly as they go a bit mushy. Also compared to some cereals you do not need to add sugar to these as they are sweet enough.

Sugar puffs will set you back 114 calories per 30g serving, but I never measure what I have, I just fill the bowl and add the milk to the brim.

The box states that they contain no artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners, or preservatives and are fortified with vitamins and iron, they also contain fibre so are a healthy option to give to your children compared to some breakfast cereals, if they will eat them!!

They have been around for years, and I am sure they will be around a few more yet, so you have time to try them out if you have not already.

Thankyou for reading.

Summary: tasty snack treat.
