Advantages: Great variation, not just rip-off of chocolate bars

Disadvantages: Fruit cream chocolates. ugh.

Like pretty much everyone here it seems Quality Street chocolates have been a traditional Christmas fixture for many years in my family.

The strength of the brand (apart from the slightly retro nostalgia surrounding it!) is that there really is something for everyone, and you don't feel like you are getting cut-down versions of regular chocolate bars (as you would in heroes, which are nice, but different).

In terms of quality, they aren't the highest end chocolates, but they are pleasant. I would prefer more variation in the chocolate coatings, which are universally milk chocolate.

In terms of fillings there are all sorts, easily identifiable by the different shapes and wrapper colours. My personal favourites include the green triangle, which contains a smooth praline, the toffee penny (and the toffee is quite hard) and the pink-wrapped fudge. My least favourite are the strawberry and orange creams and unfortunately no-one else in my family likes them so they tend to be left over, which is a bit annoying.

But if you have a well-balanced set of tastes then these are particularly good as a sharing chocolate for the reason of the variation included.

Summary: Best box of chocolates for sharing with family
