Quorn Bacon Style Rashers

Description: Vegetarian / Bacon, meat free flavoured rashers.

... between French bread. Quorn rashers taste amazing if you bury them in lots of other stuff like that. They have a strong bacon taste to them, which is really impressive to a vegetarian like me because, as a lot of vegetarians will tell you, we really miss the strong taste of bacon. The texture is not comparable to meat though, although it is probably the closest we are going to get from the vegetable world. The texture of these is rather similar to a kind of processed mushroom. I tried them in a 'cooked breakfast, ie...more

Premium Review Quorn Bacon Style Rashers: Well done for giving vegetarians something tasty!! (428 words)

In the 1960s, extensive research was undertaken to try and find an alternative to meat as it was envisaged that the huge population growth of the time could result in a shortage. The aim was to find a vegetable with a high source of protein and also a similar texture to meat. A member of the fungi family fulfilled this criteria and came to be known as Mycoprotein. All Quorn products are made with Mycoprotein. This is actually better for you than meat because it is high in protein, but also low in fat. The calorific value of two rashers, which you might say is one portion, is only a mere 76 calories. This product retails at £1.99 from Tesco, ...  Read the complete review

I'm not a vegetarian but lately I've been trying various Quorn products! Quorn is a brand of non meat foods such as mince and chicken. One of the products I've recently tried is the Quorn style bacon rashers. Quorn products are available in all supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's. depending on what product it is you are buying, they can be found in the freezers, or in the refrigerators. They are easy to spot though and stand out nicely on the shelf. The bacon rashers are found in the freezers alongside all of the other quorn frozen products. They are really easy to find and are usually on the bottom shelf. It comes sold in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Quorn Bacon Style Rashers: It's just not bacon! (662 words)

As I'm sure you know by now, I'm dieting and have been for some time. For this reason I have been trying more Quorn products as they are naturally low in fat and I have been surprisingly impressed by some of their range, I have meant to try their Bacon Style Rashers for some time and finally got around to it last week - but will I buy them again? Well, no, probably not is the honest answer to that. While I enjoyed the bacon sandwiches I made with the eight rashers in this packet I don't honestly feel they are great value for money and would much rather eat the Mattessons Turkey Rashers that I have become accustomed to over the months. I have tried ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fry up a healthier bacon sandwich for breakfast. (418 words)

For around eight years I did not eat any meat products so naturally Quorn played a fairly large part in my evening meals and snacks and I loved the fact that it was low fat (I was in great shape really until I started to eat meat and fell in love with it!). Quorn is mycoprotein which is a member of the fungi family and is naturally low in fat. Many of the products are styled around meat products such as these bacon rashers and although that might seem a little strange it's very good to know that there are products out there that I can eat now which are healthier and still taste pretty nice. This packet of bacon rashers contains 8 rashers and this is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Quorn Bacon Style Rashers: Guilt free bacon butties! (513 words)

Quorn bacon is a meat free alternative to 'pigs bacon'. The bacon comes in a cardboard box and inside a plastic tray. There is about 8 rashers in each box which isn't many really (when you're forced to share anyway!). They don't look like pigs bacon and are much thinner and dryer. They look a little bit like strips of cardboard! They are stored in the freezer which is good because it means you can eat them in your own time rather than eating them all at once incase they go off. When you first get them out of the freezer they all stick together and if you try to seperate them they all snap! You need to leave them a couple of minutes to thaw out ...  Read the complete review
