Advantages: Tasty, low fat and versatile!

Disadvantages: Not for vegans

I used to be a really fussy eater and had a really limited repetoire of what I would actually eat so when I first heard about Quorn I though that it sounded revolting and there was no way that I would like it.

Quorn is a mycoprotein which basically means that it is a source of protein made from mushrooms but it does not taste like mushrooms. It is a vegetarian alternative to meat but the fact that it contains egg means it is unsuitable for vegans.
It is low fat and low calorie so also suitable for those who want to watch their figure.

The Quorn pieces are small in size, textured and flavoured so that they have a light & delicious meaty flavour that is not overpowering. I wouldn't say that they taste exactly the same as chicken but they are similar and if you try any other Quorn product (eg Beef style) you can detect a difference in flavour.
They are incredibly versatile and can be used in virtually any dish and go with pretty much any sauce (I find they taste particularly good in a ratatouille!).

The Quorn pieces are sold either fresh or frozen and can be kept in the freezer for many months. It does not take long to cook (either by oven or microwave) so it's really convenient also!

Summary: Excellent for meals
