Advantages: Staple for the freezer.

I have been a vegetarian for over 15 years now, and in that time I have tried almost every product Tescos, Asda and Sainsbury's sell and almost everyone that Quorn and Linda McCartney make. As a result of my very thorough investigations (!) these Quorn chicken pieces have been a staple part of my freezer and diet for years now.


Quorn chicken style pieces come in a plastic bag. I keep them in my freezer and open the bag, get a few out to use and then shove the bag back in the freezer, The bag is not resealable as such but I tie it back up to stop too much frost getting on them, although it would probably not affect them as they are pretty resilient.

The plastic bag is square and decorated in the quorn usual style. I am not sure if it is recyclable or not, which would be a massive bonus in my opinion. The Quorn pieces are beige in colour and evenly shaped, in rectangles. That is how from a quick glance you can tell the difference between these and 'real' chicken, as they are so regularly shaped, not like natured real chicken!

There are many ways you can cook the shapes, fry, oven, grill. Oven baked or frying are my favorite. Most people that have never cooked them before find it hard to tell when they are cooked, but if you follow the instructions or have some experience then its easier.

The quorn chicken style pieces themselves are very plain tasting, they are are flavoured by what tou have them with or cook them in. The texture is nice. They are not tough and chewy and there are no surprises in them, the texture is the same throughout. They are very fibrous, as they are made of lots of tiny strands.

I really like quorn chicken pieces. They are very versatile, and like I say, just keep a bag in the freezer to be bought out for many different meals and combinations. They are a staple I just cannot live without.
