Advantages: Healthy, low fat, tasty coating, quick and convenient, cheap

Disadvantages: A little bland and not exactly exciting

I recently bought these Quorn escalopes while they were on offer in my local Asda at the bargain price of £1 for the pack of two. I believe that they normally retail for around £1.89 so either way they are quite good value for a quick veggie meal.

Nice and convenient, these escalopes can be cooked from chilled or frozen quite quickly, only around 12/16 minutes in the oven or 10/14 minutes under the grill. I also really like them because they are very low in fat and handy for anyone on the weight watchers plan as each escalope contains 1.7g of saturated fat and 249 calories which equates to 4 points.

The texture of these escalopes is similar to a chicken escalope and the breadcrumb coating is seasoned to taste lemony which is very tasty and adds a nice flavour to the escalope overall. My only criticism of these escalopes is that they can seem a little bland, if it wasnt for the coating I think they would be incredibly unappetising as you are, effectively eating a large plain slab of the ubiquitous microprotein that quorn is made from.

I usually jazz these up as a meal by serving them with garlic mashed potato or some pasta in sauce as the other flavours help to make these escalopes part of a tasty meal.

Overall these are a good product and make a very quick and convenient vegetarian meal, I tend to keep a pack in my freezer for those occasions when I need to throw a meal together quickly and whilst they are on offer at £1 a pack I cannot really complain!

Summary: A great product for vegetarians everywhere.
