Premium Review Quorn Mince: KILLING OFF QUORNS INSTEAD OF COWS (683 words)

In an effort to find products which contain more protein for a member of the family who is vegetarian, I have been trying different Quorn products, and giving the concept of quorn a second look since the modernisation of ideas and presentation to the public in supermarkets, rather than being a specialised kind of food that can only be bought in health food shops. The quorn range is quite amazing, though for this review, the product in question is Quorn mince. It comes in a frozen pack, and here it's quite useful that you can re-cover the pack and put back in the freezer, since the quantity of 350 grams is rather a lot of product for one solitary dish. I have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Not 'Mushroom' for improvement. (681 words)

I'm not vegetarian, but I have several friends who are, and while I like to accomadate thier preferences when entertaining, I'm far too lazy to make a seperate meal for them. I also didn't know any vegetarian recipes (unless salads count). That was until I discovered minced quorn, the miracle food! Quorn is a vegetarian product that looks a lot like mince. It has the same brown colour, the same shape, and the same texture. The only difference is....it's made from mushrooms, not meat.I don't know how its made, neither do I care, it's veggie, so my friends can eat it. Also, another advantage of it being made from mushrooms is that it is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Quorn Mince: Just like the real thing (165 words)

I am not a vegetarian, however my both my best friend and my girlfriend are. I have also spent some time working in a sausage factory, and as a result of the above, i like to think of myself as a vegetarian sympathizer. This means i pretty much don't cook any meat. I'll still eat it though. When ever i have anything that involves mince, ill always go for the quorn alternative. The thing i like about this is that there is no difference in taste what so ever. At least i can't tell a difference. However when you think about it, it seems so much safer to go for this. When you buy meat, especially cheap meat you havn't a clue what is in it. Or what condition the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Children of the Quorn (997 words)

When it comes to food reviews, I find it hard to think of what to say. How can you enthuse over taste and texture so much to fill out a five hundred word review? How can one heap praise over smell and simplicity so much that the late and great Keith Lloyd would be impressed? Yet I have wanted to talk about Quorn for a while and I simply must let it out. It is like a volcano wanting to erupt and blast its lava upon the Earth. Well, here's my Volcano folks, here's my Etna, my Vesuvius... First of all, I am not a vegetarian. I tried it for a while, but I have this weakness for bacon, chicken, for Big Macs (only occasional ones) and for sausages (yes, I know what ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Quorn Mince: Quorn mince (252 words)

Although I am not a vegetarian, I still frequently buy and use quorn mince. Originally I began using this as a healthy eating option, with only 94 calories per hundred grams (normal mince around 255 calories per hundred grams), but have since continued using for a variety of different reasons. Similarly to beef mine, you wouldn't fry quorn mince to eat on its own, likewise it only takes a bit of onion and garlic to jazz up quorn. Although I do prefer to use it in recipies such as spag bol, where there is some sauce that the mince can be left to simmer in. One thing to remember is that quorn does seem to absorb more liquid than conventional mince! A good way ...  Read the complete review
