Unlike a lot of other Quorn products, Mini Savoury Eggs cannot be frozen, and must be eaten within 24 hours of opening the pack. I really enjoyed this product, and will probably buy it again, but I will wait until I see it reduced or on offer in the supermarket....more

As mentioned in previous vegetarian food reviews I'm something of a 'fake' veggie these days, having given in to cravings for bacon, chicken and pork etc. I do still buy a lot of vegetarian foods though; especially Quorn products due to them being a healthy option and not to mention they tend to be very tasty (in my humble opinion anyway). I first saw these tasty little treats in Morrisons whilst shopping with my mum a few months ago and have been hooked ever since. So what are they?~ These 'balls' are Mini Savoury Eggs and are a vegetarian scotch egg basically. They are made from Mycoprotein and have chopped up egg (free ...  Read the complete review

I'm not a vegetarian but lately I've been trying various Quorn products! Quorn is a brand of non meat foods such as mince and chicken. One of the products I've recently tried is the savoury style eggs. Quorn products are available in all supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's. depending on what product it is you are buying, they can be found in the freezers, or in the refrigerators. They are easy to spot though and stand out nicely on the shelf. These products are found in the fridges alongside the other quorn fresh products. However some quorn products are frozen and therefore can be found in the freezer section. None of the brand ...  Read the complete review

I have tried quite a lot of Quorn products, as I am not that keen on meat, and tend to choose Vegetarian options fairly often. One of the Quorn products that I had not tried was the Mini Savoury Eggs, so when I saw them in my local Sainsbury's, I thought I would give them a try. They cost £1.99 for a pack containing twelve eggs. This seems quite expensive, as the pack only contains 240g, but Quorn products can often be found at a reduced price, or on special offer. Quorn is made from Mycoprotein, which is a nutritious member of the fungi family. It is naturally low in fat (less than 3%) and high in protein and fibre. Each mini savoury egg weighs 20g, and has ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Even meat eaters eat these. (242 words)

I have been a vegetarian for about 15 years now. In this time, in the absence of meat and fish I have been compelled to try almost every meat free product Tescos, Sainsburys and Asda sell, and therefore feel rather experienced on the matter! Quorn is a much newer and more up and coming brand. When my meat free strike started the products on sale were much blander and only the most basic substitutes were available. Now a days quorn, and other competitive brands have started becoming more adventurous. There isnt much now that you can't get an equivalent of. When I first saw quorn scotch eggs I was most excited. I really missed meat scothc eggs. There ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Quorn Mini Savoury Eggs: More tasties from Quorn (216 words)

I have been a vegetarian for about 13 years now, since the age of about 9 so I have not tried many types of "real meat", scotch/savoury eggs included. However, my partner is a meat eater, although he also eats many vegetarian products with me as I do the cooking. He is a fan of savoury eggs though, and was amazed by the likeness to the "real" ones. I can't compare them to real ones, but they taste delicious nonetheless. The sausage "meat" is really tasty with a slight spiciness to it, although it is a little grey in colour. I'm not keen on egg but it's nothing to do with being vegetarian, I just don't like the taste. These ...  Read the complete review
