I find myself resorting to Quorn quite often because my husband is veggie. One of the hardest meals to recreate is the traditional Sunday roast and so we have tried to substitute with this a couple of times - and whilst it does make a passable lunch I am not overstruck on this particular Quorn product. You will not always find this in the supermarket so I tend to buy one when I see it as you can guarantee you then wont find it again for weeks, it comes frozen in a thick sausage shape with tight plastic wrapped over and sealed at each end like a salami. The colour is that of standard quorn pieces, like a beige colour. You oven cook the product and it ... Read the complete review

So, who thinks vegetarian food is dull and boring? Just veggie burgers made up of bits of old carrots and peas? Well, yes, some of that stuff is out there, but there are also many frozen vegetarian products that are excellent – and this Quorn roast in one of them. Quorn is ‘made from myco-protein, which is mushroom in origin and does not contain soya’ to quote from the packet. We use Quorn pieces and Quorn mince quite often (usually for curries and lasagne respectively) and have also eaten the Quorn fillets. This is what vegetarians have been waiting for! I have been veggie for about 10 years now, and I am fed up with being given vegetable lasagne and veggie burgers. Although I prefer looking at animals in fields as opposed to eating them, I do like the taste of meat. Yes, I miss Kentucky Fried Chicken, turkey, ham, chinese roast pork (yum). I'm not opposed to people eating meat, I am opposed to meateaters thinking that all veggies like health food, oh and vegetables! This has also been the assumption by food manufacturers...until Quorn appeared. Quorn is mushroom in origin and now comes in a variety of forms such as pieces, mince, fillets, roasts and ready ... If you are vegatarian and looking for a substitute for a Sunday roast (and can't stand nut roast) then this is a good, if on the pricey side, substitute. This is a oval shaped mycoprotein (aka protein originating in mushrooms - it doesn't taste of mushrooms though as my meat eating husband can't stand mushrooms but will happily eat this) which comes packaged in a plastic wrap, which you pierce prior to cooking in the oven. Although I have discovered that you can remove from the plastic wrap and then baste it in wine which makes it far more moist and I do prefer it that way (it does keep the shape) although it's less hastle to follow the instructions on the ...
