Advantages: A good protein sorce for vegetarians

Disadvantages: Quite expensive

If you are vegatarian and looking for a substitute for a Sunday roast (and can't stand nut roast) then this is a good, if on the pricey side, substitute.

This is a oval shaped mycoprotein (aka protein originating in mushrooms - it doesn't taste of mushrooms though as my meat eating husband can't stand mushrooms but will happily eat this) which comes packaged in a plastic wrap, which you pierce prior to cooking in the oven. Although I have discovered that you can remove from the plastic wrap and then baste it in wine which makes it far more moist and I do prefer it that way (it does keep the shape) although it's less hastle to follow the instructions on the box.

Quorn in itself does not have a great deal of flavour to it, but it complements most vegatarian gravies and sauces that I have tried with it and the leftovers can be eaten cold, just as a normal roast would.

Summary: A veggie alternative for a roast dinner

As this is so low in fat and we are on a diet I shall try this, Susan
