Advantages: Quick and easy to prepare
Disadvantages: It's messy
My 10 month old daughter has been enjoying Ready Brek (by the Weetabix Food Company) for her breakfast for a couple of months now. It is especially good over the winter months because as they say 'it's central heating for kids'.
(My tip to make it extra yummy (and to get a portion of fruit into your little one!) is to mix apple, pear, etc puree into the hot cereal. My baby loves this, and it makes each bowl taste slightly different depending on which puree you use. You don't have to make your own puree if you don't have the time, you can use the pre-packed 100% fruit puree pots, find them in the baby aisle at the supermarket.)
I have only given my experience of feeding my baby Ready Brek so far, however. my husband and I often enjoy a bowl ourselves too. And it's yummy and warming from an adults perspective also. You can mix it to your own preffered consistancy by just adding more or less milk before you pop it in the microwave. If you have a few extra minutes in the morning, you can heat Ready Brek on the hob, and you can add extra milk as you go along to ensure it is to your satisfaction consistancy wise.
It is very creamy, not too textured, which I much prefer. I find normal porridge oats too textured, and somewhat lumpy...but I do not have this problem with Ready Break. Yum!
The only slightly annoying thing which I have found, when pouring/scooping the oats into the bowl, you end up with Ready Brek flying in the air as it's so light. But I suppose this cannot be helped.
The approximate prices are:
Ready Brek original 750g £1.84
Ready Brek original 250g £0.99
Ready Brek original Hot Oat Sachets 8x30g £1.48
You can find all the relevant nutritional info on the back of the packet, or by doing a search on Ready Brek online.
I hope you have found my review useful.
Kind regards.
Summary: A yummy warming breakfast for all
