Advantages: Variety of flavours

Disadvantages: Some bags don't have a good mixture of the different sweets

If I'm unsure of what I want to eat as a chocolately treat, I will buy a bag of Revels. It guarantees a number of different flavours all in one bag.

***Price***

A 35g bag of Revels costs 45p in the local shop. Mars also make a 175g share size bag which are priced at around £1.50 - £2.00 in the local shop. In the cinema the larger share size bag will be nearer £3.00 - £3.50 so stock up before you go.

***Packaging ***

The sweets come in a long bag (about 10cm long by 6cm high). The wrapper has vertical stripes down the bag in blocks of colour which are orange, brown, and a dark yellow colour. Revels is written across the packet in white font.

*** The Contents of the Bag ***

There are various different flavours of Revels in a bag.

**Raisins**
Covered in milk chocolate with a raisin in the centre. Milk chocolate taste is quite strong and creamy as there is a thick layer of chocolate over the raisin

**Peanuts**
Also very chocolaty with a nutty taste once you bite into the peanut. The chocolate coating is quite thick. Revels are therefore not suitable for people with a nut allergy.

**Toffee**
Small pieces of toffee covered in milk chocolate. The toffee is hard at first but quite chewy after it has been in your mouth for a while. These are a bit too hard for my liking and nearly pull out your teeth if you bite into them straight away as its difficult to tell if these are actually toffee sweets or nuts by sight alone. The taste is not a particularly creamy toffee taste and actually quite tasteless.

**Chocolate**
These are solid pieces of milk chocolate in a small flat disc shape. The chocolate is very milky and creamy.

** Maltesers **
Milk chocolate covered honeycomb balls which you can buy separately. Not a favourite of mine.

**Orange**
These are soft centre sugary fondant covered in milk chocolate. These are a bright orangey/ peach colour. These taste of orange. The fondant is quite strong tasting but not overpowering and works well with the chocolate.

** Coffee**
These are soft centre sugary fondant covered in milk chocolate. The fondant is a light brown colour and tastes of coffee. The coffee taste is quite strong which is why many people hate coffee Revels. I actually quite like them

** Yoghurt**
These were a limited edition to replace the coffee flavour for a while. These were soft centre, but quite a hard sugary fondant texture like the coffee and the orange flavour. This was a white/ pink colour fondant which tasted of a light strawberry yoghurt type taste. Very sickly and just tasted very sugary and sweet rather than fruity.

The contents of the bag are all chocolate covered but come in a variety of shapes and sizes. In total you get about 15 sweets. The chocolate discs are instantly recognisable. The toffee, peanuts and chocolate covered raisins look quite similar although the raisins are slightly more of an odd shape.

The soft centre orange, coffee (and special edition yoghurt flavour which replaced the coffee flavour for a time) all look the same so you get a surprise when you bite into them to which flavour they are.

Maltesers look very similar to the soft centres however are slightly larger in size.

When you open the bag the scent is a sweet chcolately scent. None of the flavours have a scent which is more dominant than the others; all you can smell is the milk chocolate coating of the sweets.

My only real criticism of Revels is that often when I buy a standard 35g bag I do not seem to get a good mixture of the different flavours. I always seem to get lots of Maltesers and very few of the soft centres. If you have read a previous review of Maltesers you will know that they are not my most favourite confectionary. So I wanted to eat a bag of Maltesers I would buy one of those instead rather than Revels!!!

***Nutritional Information***

A 35g standard bag contains:

168 calories
7.3g fat

I do find that with this size bag of Revels they are not particularly filling and I do not get the same "full up" feeling like I do after eating a chocolate bar like a Double Decker, albeit Revels have less fat and calories in a bag!

If you are looking for a bit of variety in a bag, then opt for Revels... just be warned its difficult to work out what flavour you are actually eating until you have started chewing it. Enjoy the taste and the surprises!

Summary: A mixture of chocolate covered goodies in a bag.
