Well surprisingly I realised whilst out to lunch that I had never tried these and decide that at 45pence from Sainsbury's I should give them a whirl. They are quite eye catching on the shelves with a bright green packaging with the name of the sweets and a picture of them on the front. The bag isn't huge, but big enough at 50 grams. The sweets are like jelly type chews and are different shapes, colours and tastes. The first one I tried was the shape of an ice cream cone but didn't taste like ice cream thats for sure. It had an almost vanilla type taste but not as pleasant. Moving on I found an orange shaped sun which tasted (heres a surprise) like orange. In ... Read the complete review

My 5 year old son loves sweets and whenever he gets the opportunity to have a treat from the shop he buys sweets. I find he is very curious when it comes to sweets because he will always buy something different everytime, however since he has tried Rowntrees Randoms they are now his current favourites and I have since tried them to see what the appeal is and I thought they were really nice. Rowntrees Randoms are a new product from Rowntree and come in a bright green , weighing 50g and costing about 40p or 50p. The last packet I bought was from Wilkinsons for 40p. They are random sweets because when you open the bag you have a variety of ... Read the complete review

This is a great idea from Rowntrees, and is sure to remain a popular item for kids when they're looking for a bag of sweets. With the sweets market pretty much saturated with new ideas all the time, Rowntree's have come up with the idea of not being specific with what you put in a bag of sweets! Each bag is likely to contain different quantities of different 'penny' sweets, as we would refer to them. However, they won't cost as little as penny sweets, as it'll sting you around the 45p/50p mark for a bag of these, and you only get about 15 sweets in each bag, making them more like thrupenny sweets! The different types of sweets could be shaped jelly ... Read the complete review

Have you ever been randomly approached by a random person in a random street and then randomly handed a packet of 'Rountree's Randoms'? no?... just me then... Actually, the random person was probably a Rountree's employee (or at least I hope he was), and my hand-out was probably the result of a less-than-random marketing campaign. If you have yet to sample 'Randoms', they are jelly-based sweets which come in six different flavours; orange, cherry, blackcurrant, strawberry, lime, and lemon. 'That's not so random' you may say, but the random element comes when you notice that the sweets have the appearance of mixed objects and animals. In the packet ... Read the complete review

Randoms are a step forward for Rowntree's who are famous for their fruit pastilles and wine gums - and they have stepped into squidgy territory (in more ways than one), competing with the likes of Haribo with the creation of these softer, more jelly-like sweets. *Look* Rowntree's randoms come in 50g green bags with curly round font announcing their name, squirting children's paint colours in the background a cluster of 'random' sweets on the front, including an ice-cream and shuttlecock. The packet is very appealing, though a little small. *Sweets* The sweets come in 4 types, along similar lines to haribo sweets, and can be found in a ... Read the complete review
