Rice Krispies are one of those very simple ideas, that has stood the test of time because if it's simplicity. Quite simply they are puffed grains of rice with very little added apart from some vitamins and minerals. They were a firm favourite of mine when I was growing up and still are (I'm 38 now!) I have been eating Rice Krispies for breakfast for many years now. Every morning I wake up to a big bowl of them, accompanied by a good splash of cold skimmed milk and a glass of Tropicana orange juice. For me it's a great and tasty way to start off the day and the only time I change from this routine is when I'm on holiday and someone else (in a hotel!) is cooking me breakfast! Breakfast is, we are told, the most important meal of the day. Whilst I have had periods in my life where I have told myself I am too tired/too busy/too late for work to eat breakfast, I would still agree that breakfast is important. On those days when I skip breakfast, I find myself hungry throughout the day, I end up snacking on rubbish, and eating more than I would otherwise have done. On a recent shopping trip, and needing to buy cereal, Kelloggs Rice Crispies caught my eye. I'm not normally a fan of low fibre breakfast cereal because it just doesn't fill me up for any length of time but such was my instant craving for these little puffs of rice I bought a box anyway. My box is the 450g size and cost me £2.29.
