I have to guiltily admit to being a big fan of the Rustlers range - burgers and baps that can be whacked into the microwave on those occasions when you just don't have the time or the energy to mess around.
My local garage had their various products on offer for a quid each, and one of the ones I picked up was the 'Big Breakfast'.
Now, I know the Dooyoo category lists it as a burger - but it's not, its actually 2 rashers of bacon, a sausage cut into 2 halves, a sachet of tomato ketchup and a bap . You take it out of its packaging, microwave the burger and meat together for 70 seconds, then add the ketchup
It's actually pretty nice - The sausages, whilst nothing amazing and certainly not having any added herbs, were pretty tasty, and not gristly or cheap tasting. The bacon was lean, and soft with just a tiny hint of crispiness at the edges and a lovely bacon taste . The bread , which was lightly floured, did go a little soft in the microwave though, and also got very hot to handle, which is perhaps the only downside - it might only have taken 70 seconds to cook, but I had to wait at lease 3 minutes before the bread was cooled enough to handle. The ketchup sachet was just about the right size for the sandwich too .
I enjoyed my burger, and felt pleasantly full for a good while after I ate it , and I didn't feel the need for a mid morning snack .
Per 100g, this has 266 calories and 12.3 g of fat. The product is actually 166 g, so (if my calculator is working properly) for the whole burger that makes it 441 calories, and 20.4g of fat altogether - so its really not that good for you, and definitely not something to eat for every meal!
But, as an occasional quick eat on a morning where you might otherwise have to skip breakfast entirely, it's great, and as I said, it filled me up until lunch!
4 stars - a tasty burger but a little high on the calories and fat for my liking .
