Sacla carbonara
I like using Sacla sauces for convenience they also taste good. Sacla sauces taste a bit better than a lot of similar sauces except for my home made ones and yours of course.
Sacla is an Italian company that first started making products in Asti just after the Second World War.
I bought my jar of carbonara sauce from tesco‘s where I do most of my grocery shopping. This sacla sauce like some of the others cost £1.77p for the 190g jar. Own name brands of this sauce are of course cheaper.
Carbonara is an Italian recipe the names is from the Italian carbone which means coal don’t worry there is no coal in the recipe . It might be because this sauce was popular with charcoal makers or that the flecks of freshly ground black pepper that you can see in the sauce.
Carbonara sauce contains eggs cheese and bacon
This sauce is so easy to use just cook your pasta, any variety really then drain the pasta and add the sauce and stir it in. Heat it for a couple of minutes then it is ready to serve. The sauce coats the pasta well if you stir it in.
You can serve this straight on a plate. Serve with grated parmesan if you wish.
If you want to cook and serve later put prepared meal in casserole dish slice a tomato to put on top of meal and put in over or microwave to reheat .
These sauces are great for camping holidays; it is possible to cook a meal with this with one single camping gaz burner.
There is usually enough sauce for about 300g of pasta. You can of course make it go further by serving with garlic bread and salad.
In a 100g serving of this sauce there is 105 calories.
So yes I would recommend this sauce if you want a quick and easy meal at home or on holiday. Good for a student who will be catering for themselves for the first time they can share a meal made with this with someone else in halls and make friends. Mind you for a student who is hard up use an own brand and value pasta .
Summary: A carbonara sauce in a jar
