... ingredients. The ingredients listed on the jar are so small I gave up but because I was reviewing it I felt it essential to check up what was in my jar. The main ingredients are Tomatoes, but not the sun-dried variety there is only 4% of them! Sunflower seed oil is the second ingredient on the list and there is also Extra virgin olive oil as well. 10% basil, red pepper, pine kernels, salt, garlic pecorino Romano Cheese plus another cheese and water are all things that I expected but the surprise is carrots and Cashew...more

I am a big pasta fan as it's quick and easy to make in the evening but recently got bored with the usual tomato sauce such as Dolmio that I usually put over my pasta so set out to Sainsburys to find a new sauce when I came across these great pesto sauces from Sacla. They were only £1.39 a jar so I decided to try the sundried tomato one to begin with although they do come in ten other flavours: Classic Pesto Organic Green Pesto Organic Tomato Pesto Roasted Red pepper Pesto Wild rocket pesto Pesto Alla Genovese Italian Fennel Pesto Creamy vine ripened Char-grilled aubergine Coriander Pesto Basically ...  Read the complete review

Hmmmm, pesto! I love this stuff. A couple of teaspoons transforms boring cheap pasta into a feast fit for the Gods. Add a little to pizza and top with cherry tomatoes, and it instantly transforms into something a bit special. Proper pesto is a very rich, very full-tasting sauce. You take handfuls and handfuls of basil and mash it up with salt, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts and parmesan. The only way to make it economically at home is in the summer, when you can grow tubs and tubs of basil for the sole purpose of making the sauce. Fortunately for those of us who are addicted, you can also buy jars of it in the supermarket. ...  Read the complete review

I think I discovered pesto quite late, it was during my universiaty days and as soon as I realised how it could transforms plain pasta into a yummy, scrummy meal, I was hooked. Since those days which seem like a lifetime ago, pesto has become one of my firm cupboard staples. I always have a jar in the cupboard as it is so versitile and I have lost count of the number of times when it has saved me when I have needed to whip up a quick meal for the kiddiewinkles. I love plain green pesto, the flavour is fantastic and I love the simplicity of all the different flavours. I had been faithful to the green stuff for many years but the day came when my head was ...  Read the complete review

Sacla Sun dried Tomato Pesto Sauce....... I am a big pasta eater and have always made my own tomato sauce type topping to pour over it. I do however pick up a jar of Homepride pasta bake from time to time and a few moths ago when browsing for something a little different I came across this Sacla Sun Dried Tomato Pesto. Before buying this I had never heard of the brand or even tried the original pesto but seeing as it was a tomato based sauce I figured I would enjoy it. I thought it was rather expensive for the small 190 gram jar I paid £2.29pence from my local Sainsbury's but there is a larger jar available which works out better value but ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sacla Sundried Tomato Pesto: The taste of italy at home (360 words)

I find sacla sundried tomato pesto an absolute godsend. Apart from their standard original pesto, I struggle to find a more versatile sauce/paste. The pesto is highly aromatic, with a rich, mouth-watering taste. How I use it: To enjoy the taste of the Sacla sauce, one can simply stir it through pasta. However, for a heartier and fulfilling meal, I always find it useful to pan fry and season some sliced chicken breast and add this to the mixture, along with a handful of chopped black olives. For approximately half a kilogram of pasta, I use a third to a half of a 190g jar. You can also use the pesto to make a killer Panini, which you can ...  Read the complete review
