I adore soup! I'll virtually eat any variety and any make. As I have it for lunch most days I find I've tried most of what the supermarkets have on offer and realised that I'm someone who doesn't do 'Economy Products' in any way shape or from. I'm a brand snob but occasionally will buy shop own products but anything that looks basic I give a wide berth. However a while ago while in Sainsbury's late one night I wasn't at all well and knew I needed something to eat and all I wanted was a tin of Heinz Tomato Soup but the shelves in my city centre store were near on empy and all they had to offer me was their own economy tin. Well I had to have it though I was ... Read the complete review

Sainsbury,s basics CHICKEN SOUP (CREAMED) Shopping in sainsbury,s for a few tins to keep in the cupboard for a rainy day, this soup is available for a mere 27p per can. The Can ********** Just the usual basic can, with unfortunately no pull ring, but then come on its a cheap tin of soup, so using a can openner is the least of my worries. White with the usual red basics writing on it, with a picture of a chicken i guess drawn on it in red. Well the Taste ********** To be honest i wouldnt say that it wasnt eatable, but have had better cheaper soups, was lacking in something, maybe it was a bit too watery for my ... For those of you who suffered from childhood illnesses you will remember the fabled mystical powers of chicken soup. Whenever I had a sniffle or a dodgy tummy, my mother would rustle up a nice tin of soup and I'd be as right as rain. However, going back to 1994 I reckon she used Campbells, or Heinz as she wouldn't be seen dead buying a basic range....how times change! At a credit-crunch-busting 27p per tin this caught my frugal eye and the promise of an "improved recipe" on the tin piqued my interest further. What could they possibly add to chicken and soup to improve it? Diphosphates according to the tin(!) Look, it tastes like chicken ... Read the complete review

I was strolling through Sainsbury today when I cam across , this. I have a habit of picking up any time which is ridiculously cheap. This was one of those items. at like 27 p If I remember correctly. Well I came home feeling awfully hungry and the soup was the only thing that would be ready in 5 minutes, I chucked it in microwave. I am usually quite impressed by basics product; this however was not one of those moments. I tasted it plain first and was disappointed, my expectations shattered. It was the blandest soup I had ever tasted. Well any ways I was hungry so I set about to make it a bit acceptable. Got some hot pepper sauce, ... Read the complete review
