... rather than for the price. The biscuits appear to be a pretty standard size and they are round in shape. They are lovely and crunchy and crumbly and they are made from wheat flour. I personally find these to taste just like any other digestive really, particularly when they are dunked in my tea or crushed up as the base of a cheesecake. These may be cheap biscuits but when I throw them in to my biscuit barrel with a mixture of other biscuits I never get any complaints from the nieces and nephews when they visit! Thes...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Digestive Biscuits: A Delicious Packet Of Basic Digestives. (345 words)

Digestives are actually one of my favourite biscuits and I'm partial to a few of them whether or not they are covered in chocolate. It's quite unusual for me to like a biscuit without some sort of chocolate or chocolate/caramel combination smothered over the top but I love these just as they are . In Sainsbury's I can purchase a 400g packet of Digestive Biscuits from the 'Basics' Range for just 31p and this is only 3p per 100g cheaper than the chocolate covered ones so I chose these purely because I like them rather than for the price. The biscuits appear to be a pretty standard size and they are round in shape. They are lovely and crunchy and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I digest digestives digressively (what?) (614 words)

Cruising the biscuit aisle one day, I spotted a familiar white package. A white package with orange writing - the sign of Sainsbury's basics. This makes me happy, to spot new Basics items I was not aware of before. Becaue Basics items are, as a rule, awesome. So I decided to buy a packet of these because they were only 31p and I felt they would be awesome. And, dear reader, they were awesome. As is to be expected. I like these digestives because they're quite a neat size. Usually, digestives are huge, massive. These are quite a regular old average size. And so you don't feel overly fat when you go and eat one. Then two. Then...yes. But then you undo ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Digestive Biscuits: World's most boring biscuit, buy boy is it good for cheese! (370 words)

As a young boy, I often had to stay with my aunty who had a cool looking biscuit jar, but all it was filled with was digestives  It used to drive me crazy, and I would rather go without than take them. These days, I'm not much different when it comes to a biscuit for dunking into a brew, but for bases on cheesecakes, or eating with some cheese, you can't beat them. A digestive biscuit is so called because it was at first believed they helped you with your digestion, but this was later proven to be untrue! Anyway, what are they? They are made of coarse brown wheat flour (which is where the unique look and taste comes from), as well as the usual ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A fabulously bargain biccie! (664 words)

When I spotted these I couldn't resist purchasing them the other day! Nice big packet for the little price tag of 31p for such a large packet of biscuits, they had to be bought cos I just love biscuits and simply adore plain digestives! The Packaging.... Long, white and orange plastic 'tube' shape packet. On the front of the packet in white and orange writing I'm told they are Sainsbury's Basics, Digestive Biscuits that are 'smaller but great for dunking' and there is a scribble in orange colour of what is meant to be one of the biscuits. I'm told they now contain less salt and there is a nutritional at a glance pye chart on there and the best ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Digestive Biscuits: These don't taste basic! (501 words)

My nine year old granddaughter wanted to do some cooking at the weekend but I didn't want all the cleaning up afterwards. I decided to get some biscuits and let her ice them and decorate them with sweets, I knew she'd enjoy that and it meant a nice snack and not too much washing up afterwards. I had cocoa and icing sugar in the cupboard as well as some silver balls (tooth-crackers!), marzipan, mini marshmallows and various shades of food colouring. All I needed to buy really was biscuits and as my brother and his wife were visiting that evening I decided I might as well buy plenty of biscuits so my granddaughter could serve them out after we'd eaten. ...  Read the complete review
