Advantages: Great Taste, Crunchy, Cheap, Good As A Dunking Biscuit, Great As The Base Of A Cheesecake
Disadvantages: None Really.
Digestives are actually one of my favourite biscuits and I'm partial to a few of them whether or not they are covered in chocolate. It's quite unusual for me to like a biscuit without some sort of chocolate or chocolate/caramel combination smothered over the top but I love these just as they are .
In Sainsbury's I can purchase a 400g packet of Digestive Biscuits from the 'Basics' Range for just 31p and this is only 3p per 100g cheaper than the chocolate covered ones so I chose these purely because I like them rather than for the price.
The biscuits appear to be a pretty standard size and they are round in shape. They are lovely and crunchy and crumbly and they are made from wheat flour. I personally find these to taste just like any other digestive really, particularly when they are dunked in my tea or crushed up as the base of a cheesecake.
These may be cheap biscuits but when I throw them in to my biscuit barrel with a mixture of other biscuits I never get any complaints from the nieces and nephews when they visit! These don't look cheap once they are out of the packet although they may be a little bit smaller than the branded version.
Each biscuit contains 59 calories, 2.8g of fat and 0.16g of salt so these should definitely be enjoyed in moderation.
I would recommend these if you are looking for something to add to your biscuit barrel but it's always nice to have a selection of biscuits (in my opinion at least) and these are one of my favourite biscuits although they are admittedly a little better when they are covered in milk chocolate or dark chocolate, yum!
These biscuits get a 4/5 from me as the size is fairly decent and the price is fantastic. I wish they had slightly less fat like some of the other brands that I've recently tried but for the price paid I'm not really complaining!
Summary: A Fantastic Biscuit From The 'Basics' Range.
