... bag usually lasts a little bit more longer than a mars bar, or something of that nature. The Package ********** Well its just a simple basic bag, white plastic and has a little picture of a strawberry and a Banana on the front, i only know that these are the two fruits pictured if you couldnt work out what the other fruit was, the Banana was obvious, because these are the two sweets contained inside the package. They have the Basics redy orange stripe across the front of the package and thats how i usually assoc...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Foam Fruits: Basically Bad (915 words)

Recently I’ve been on a bit of an economy drive, what with Christmas coming up, and we all know what an expensive time of year it is. So checking out the cheaper alternatives when shopping at Sainsbury’s last week, I came across this bag of fruit flavour foam candy at only 35p for 200g. Bargain, I thought, and popped them on my order. Ok, admittedly the packaging is pretty uninspiring, the usual basics packaging, mostly white with an orange strip across the top, but to be honest as economy was the name of the game this didn’t bother me at all. As these foam fruits are quite light, you do get a lot of sweets for your 35p, which suited me fine. ...  Read the complete review

Every week Claire and I have £2.50 each to spend on sweets. Wanting this to go a long way, I often buy these foam fruits. I actually REALLY like them, so much so that I now get them every week and if we are in the Sainsburys in town (that doesn't stock them) I really miss them. So what are they? As the name suggest, they're fruit shaped sweets made of sugar that is worked into a foam like substance. It's a bit like hard marshmallow, very granular in texture. The sweets come in different shapes and colours, but if the flavours are different I can't really tell. The nicest thing about these is how sweet they are. They are granular in texture, and as ...  Read the complete review

SAINSBURY'S FOAM FRUITS (Basic's range). In my local Sainsbury's store they have an isle of sweets and chocolate bars, and they have a bottom shelve which has at least ten or more packets of the cheaper range of sweets so i thought that as im always trying to save a bit and always buying these range of sweets for my seven grandchildren, i thought that i would start to cover the ones i have brought recently, (of course i try one just to see what the taste etc is like, wouldnt want my grandchildren to eat anything that i wouldnt eat myself. Most of these packets of sweets are usually priced for under 50p, and as i usually give my ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Confusingly addictive! (342 words)

Andrew is a 'Foam Fruits' addict. Whenever we have a 'much' then these are always thrown in to the basket a long with tones of other things. Initially I could take these or leave them but over time, I have become slightly addicted to them which is strange because in theory they are actually horrible. The bag of sweets consist of strawberries, oranges and bananas and I would say that you get an equal amount of each. I'm not sure why they name them foam fruits because they are quite hard in consistency and take some chewing to bite into them. Once they are mixed with saliva then they tend to soften and are easier to eat. They don't have a smell at all ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Foam Fruits: Chewy, Foamy Fruits! (311 words)

I spotted these in the sweet aisle of Sainsburys recently and decided to give them a try as I am always trying to save a few pennies while still enjoying the things in life that I love (and sweets is one of these!). These sweets are packaged in a plastic bag which is heat sealed and is easy enough to open, the packaging is very basic but this is all I would expect from these sweets. I also find the packaging easy to spot on the shelf as I recognise the basics packaging. There are lots of sweets in the bag and they are strawberry, banana & orange flavoured foam sweets which are quite well flavoured, they did have some fruit flavour to them but ...  Read the complete review
