... packet, they will never break the bank and they are not too bad either. When you open the packet, you will find the noodles all together, I normally prepare them in a bowl where water is already boiling. I tend to use 3/5 of a pint for each packet. Preparation is hardly what Gordon Ramsey would call haut cuisine. You pour the content of the packet in the boling water, you stir, and that is pretty much it! I normally add to the water a sauce I bought in China town for the preparation of noodles. It is spicy and adds flav...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Instant Chicken Noodles: A quick and tasty meal at a bargain price . (518 words)

I have to thank xxFoxyRedxx reviews for getting me into shopping at Sainsburys . Although Sainsburys is my nearest supermarket, I've always gone to Asda instead as I got the impression that Sainsburys was way out of my budget, but her many reviews on numerous 'Basics' products from Sainsburys convinced me shopping there might be good value - so last week I changed supermarket just to check it out! My shopping actually worked out very cheaply, and if the stuff I purchased turns out to be any good, I might make the switch permanent! So, on with the review . Instant noodles are pretty much a staple of my diet - although mainly japanese, chinese, and korean ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Real Noodle Was Me! (593 words)

I saw these noodles whilst shopping in Sainsburys and at just 10p a pack and knowing they were vegan from reading a previous review, I got excited and picked them up - adding them to my 'camping snacks' stash. It was with interest that I prepared them (in my tent ) yesterday. Packaging ------------- The noodles come in a small pack (great for stashing away in small spaces like backpacks or a well-stuffed Nissan Micra). The pack is in the Sainsburys Basics white and orange packaging and is very light. Once opened, it contains the noodles in two 'sheets' and a small pack of flavourings with the words 'seasoning' helpfully printed all ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Instant Chicken Noodles: I'd stick with batchelors if I was you chicken! (428 words)

Every now and again I get sick to death of eating sandwiches or Pitta bread and go for something else that is a little less healthy. I always regret it and come back to my 'old faithfuls' and this occasion was no exception. I bought these noodles from Sainsburys and they cost me 10p for a 65g packet. Inside the packet you get your noodles but you also get a small packet which consists of the chicken flavouring. The noodles are very hard when you pull them out of the packet and they are all intertwined to form a big rectanglar block. The instructions recommend that you break the block into a few pieces and you can either microwave them or prepare ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Chicken noodles that are suitable for vegans and CHEAP! (515 words)

Sainsbury's Basic Instant Noodles Chicken Flavour will only cost you 10 pence (yes, 10p!) for a 65g pack. They can be found in the dried food aisle, with the other noodle and pasta snacks. They're suitable for vegetarians and vegans (they don't contain any real chicken at all!) but they do contain wheat gluten so they're not suitable for coeliacs. The allergy advice also warns that they're not suitable for sesame, celery or mustard allergy sufferers due to the manufacturing process. They come in a plastic wrapper (which can't be recycled) and it's very easy to tear open. Inside is a little sachet of powdered flavouring which I found harder to open ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Basics Instant Chicken Noodles: "Savoury and quick, does the trick" (484 words)

To put on my old lady hat (what? I'm 22? AND?) I remember when these chicken-flavoured delights cost 7p a packet. Oh how times have changed - bearing in mind there's an economic crisis taking place and we're tightening the purse strings and weighing up the best buys in order to save a bit of dosh. It's sad to see these wonderous little noodles being dragged into the throes of the recession. Yes. They are now 10p. So what do you get for those 10 coppers sat in the bottom of your purse? 10 days worth of snacks if you can ask around and muster a quid! Well surprisingly they're not that bad. Infact my diet solely consisted on these once (due to being an extremely ...  Read the complete review
