Sainsbury's Basics lemon curd - we see such a lot written about the supermarkets own value and basic ranges just lately. I can only suppose that those of us who live on the equivalent of a basic wage have to cut our cloth according to our means and make good use of those basic goods and that well and truly includes me. But a Sainsbury's basics product is only a bargain if you as the consumer actually can enjoy eating it, if you buy basic and find it inedible then it ceases to become a bargain. Sainsbury's do one of their own label lemon curds which if my memory serves me correctly costs about 70p and then there is the Sainsbury's Basics lemon curd which ... Read the complete review

===Background:=== I haven't enjoyed Lemon Curd since being a small boy. IT was something we had with our Tea on Sunday evenings. I've no idea why I haven't had it since then, it just seems certainly for me to have gone out of fashion. But the other week I read a review on here and I really fancied trying it again. So here is my review on it. ===About the Product:=== There are several Lemon Curd products on the market, from the Branded ones to the stores own. The price varies and you can pay up to £1.13 for a tin, The Sainsbury's basic Lemon Curd is significantly cheaper however at just 31p for a tin that weighs 411 g. I notice that Tesco ... When I was a child I used to love lemon curd although I have to say it is not something I think to buy these days. However the other day my two daughters wanted to make some cakes and the recipe required a lemon curd filling. My husband was doing our Sainsbury's shop so I added the lemon curd to the list and he came back with the Basics version. As we were going to be using this in baking I thought that was fine but I'm not sure that I would have chosen it for a spread to put on bread. However, having made our cakes we had most of the jar left soI thought I would just try some on a slice of bread and I was so amazed because it was completely ... Read the complete review

Sainsbury's Basics Lemon Curd I rarely go the Sainsbury's mainly because I find it is more expensive than Tesco, Asda and Morrisons but I have been a couple of times this week as it is local to where I had been visiting. I only needed a few bits on each occasion and knew that I would be able to get stuff from the Basics range without hurting my pocket. While I was flying around the aisles I got a sudden urge for lemon curd on toast, which I have occasionally. I located the Basics Lemon Curd and was very impressed to see that a jar of 411g costs just 28p. The jar has a very simple basic label on, no frills, just the necessary nutritional information. ...
