Advantages: Cheap, taste ok
Disadvantages: Not very rich and/or creamy at all
I do like to eat chocolate and I love Cadbury buttons so when I saw this cheap option in Sainsbury's I was too curious to try them to simply walk past them lol.
The Packaging....
White and orange plastic oblongish bag and on the front I'm told it is Sainsbury's 'Basics' Milk chocolate Buttons 'Real chocolate and right on the button' there is an at a glance nutritional chart, I'm told the product contains only natural flavours and that they're suitable for Vegetarians and there is a scribble in orange of the buttons. On the back of the bag nutritional information is given, ingredients and allergy advice is given, I'm told how to store them the size is stated (100g) the best before date is stamped on, contact details for Sainsbury's are given and finally there is bar-code on there. Cheap looking packaging this is and do be careful if opening this packet because it tears badly and you lose loads of the buttons all over the place!
The Buttons....
Round, smell nice and sweet and chocolaty but not very big at all however my bag was rammed full of them. These are best stored in a cool place other wise they do melt mega quickly!
Taste wise they have a weird texture really. I mean once in the mouth they are smooth but if you bite them they have a sort of snap to them. They do taste chocolaty but a bit sweeter than I'm usually used to and although they are milk chocolate they are not rich and creamy at all.
They taste ok and the more I ate of them the more I liked them oddly enough and I would buy them again for a sugar fix with no hesitation at all. They're not the best chocolate I've ever tasted for sure but they are simply ok and do a job! Do watch them though they melt quick in the hands for some reason so have something to at hand to wipe with lol.
Allergy Advice....
Contains milk & soya.
Not suitable for peanut or nut allergy sufferers due to the methods used in the manufacture of this product.

- 13/08/09 They don't actually sound too bad! Tesco do some chocolate Buttons as part of their 3 bags for £1 deal which, like these, are tasty although obviously not top quality. |
