Advantages: Tasty, cheap and amazing value for money
Disadvantages: Fattening cos you scoff the whole bar, terrible for migraines!
When it comes to chocolate I absolutely love it! As I write this review I'm eating this which I bought earlier today! I saw it, it was large and cheap and thought it had to be worth a go and is the cheapest large bar of chocolate at it's normal price I've ever seen! Ok I'm greedy and I love bargains lol.
The Packaging....
Exactly as on the review photograph on the top of this page (for once lol).
It's white plastic on the outside and covered in orange writing all over the front and is silver foil on the inside (for freshness). I am told it is indeed Sainsbury's Basics, Milk Chocolate (No fancy packaging just a good bar of chocolate) and there is a small, rough scribble of two chunks of chocolate on there, an at a glance nutritional chart and I'm told it's suitable for vegetarians. On the back of the oblong shaped packet all in black writing the best before is stamped on, I'm told how to store it, nutritional information is given, ingredients and allergy advice are given, contact details for Sainsbury's are listed, the size of the product is stated (100g) and finally there is a bar-code on there. It's a very cheap looking 'packet' and it is what it is. It screams 'I am cheap' at you at the top of it's lungs but bare in mind with this your paying for the product not fancy looks after-all!
The Chocolate is quite dark brown and in quite large squares. In fact there are fifteen of them in total in lines of three. The chocolate isn't very thick but has a square pattern engraved into each piece. The chocolate as I have said does look rather dark (though not as dark as dark chocolate or owt) and not that creamy or glossy either to look at really. It looks plain which of course it is.
Yes it melts in the hands but basically it tastes rather good. There is no mistaking this for expensive chocolate in the taste test but it it doesn't taste cheap and/or nasty either. If anything for me, it's a tad overly sweet but it is chocolaty and really is very great value for money. It's milky rather than creamy as you eat it, has a good snap, melts in the mouth (as well as the hands) and is basically a really economical way to have your chocolate and eat it! Well done to Sainsbury's for something 'basic' being as good as this. It will never be my favourite chocolate but value for money and something I can always afford to treat myself to it will always be!
